Chapter 673

The answer was obvious. Pearlyn let out a long sigh before she answered.

She looked at Nathan worriedly. "Tell me, what should we do? Are we just going to give in like this?"

"We'll just try our best." Nathan still said the same thing. "Heinz has made up his mind. I'm afraid it's

useless if we force him."

"I don't care. I have to fight with my life. If there is no other way, I will look for Grace."

Nathan paused for a moment. He suddenly narrowed his eyes and said, "Perhaps, we can look for

Grace and start from there."

"You agree?"

"For the sake of my daughter, of course I agree," Nathan said. "Let's give it a try."

Carter Mansion.

Jodie came to visit the old man with tears in her eyes. She didn't say anything and didn't say anything

about Heinz. She just came to catch up with him and cry.

The old man knew that this was a sticky situation, so he had to call Heinz. He wanted to clarify about

the divorce between his grandson and his granddaughter- in- law whom they thought had been dead

for a long time.

It was certain that they would get divorced. He knew that they were not in a good relationship, but he

didn't expect them to get married behind his old man's back. That was abominable.

If he had known this earlier, he wouldn't have agreed to the marriage.

Even though Jodie was quite cute six years ago, her temper was still a bit explosive. She didn't know

how to be tolerant and wasn't suitable for his grandson.

He originally thought that the relationship would not last long. He did not expect them to go and get

married.

Seeing Jodie cry so hard, the old man looked at her calmly. After she cried for a while, the old man

finally spoke.

"Jodie, for you to come back, your parents must have accumulated plenty of blessings in their last life."

Jodie was stunned and wiped her tears. She looked at Old Master Carter and said, "Grandpa, you're

right. I'm really fortunate to be able to come back. It's my fault for making you, my parents and Heinz

miss me so much."

"Hey, it's good that you are back." The old man spoke courteously. He was both courteous and

attentive. "If you can come alive, everything else will be fine."

Jodie nodded. Her eyes were indeed red and swollen. "Grandpa, you're still as tough as ever. How

have you been all these years?"

"I've been good." The old man smiled. "Jodie, what are you going to do now that you're back?"

"I..." Jodie was about to say something, but then she stopped. "As you said, I am very lucky to be back.

If I may, I really feel that it's better to stay with Mom and Dad. My parents are so old. They have only

me, a daughter. I have to do my best to honor them."

"Right. Listening to you, I can see that you've grown up." Old Master Carter saw that Jodie was indeed

much more mature. He also understood that now that this child had returned, she would be really upset

if she was to find her parents deceased.

"Thank you for your compliments, Grandpa." Jodie sat obediently.

At this time, the housekeeper served tea.

"Help yourself, Jodie. Have a cup of tea," the old master said.

"Thank you, Grandpa." Jodie picked up the tea and smelled it. The tea was fragrant and it tasted good.

She took a sip and the fragrance lingered on her lips. "This is the green tea that Heinz likes the most."

"Yes, it's green tea." The Old Master said, "This tea was also bought for me by Heinz. My pension

alone is not enough to afford this tea. He gave it to me."novelbin

Upon hearing this, Jodie's eyes turned red again. "Heinz was very good to my parents. I used to be so

immature and he had always tolerated me, but I didn't cherish him. I shouldn't have quarreled with him

and I shouldn't have gone to Alsburg. If I hadn't gone there, our child would be six years old now."

The old man was stunned and frowned. He looked at Jodie and asked in surprise, "You were pregnant

with Heinz's child?"

Jodie nodded and her tears rolled down. She said so simply, "Yes, Grandpa, but because of the bad

conditions in Alsburg, I unfortunately miscarried. My colleagues on the medical team said that I can no

longer give birth to children in the future."

The old man's eyebrows were twisted into a knot. After a long silence, he said, "My child, you have

suffered."

Who would have thought that these words would cause Jodie's tears to roll down her cheeks?

She couldn't help but burst into tears.

The tea on the table smelled fragrant.

The grey- haired old man sat there with a complicated look in his eyes.

He looked at the young girl. This experience was indeed pitiful.

"Jodie, stop crying, child." Old Master Carter said, "Tell me, what are your true intentions?"

Jodie paused for a moment and looked up to meet the old and sharp eyes of the old man.

She pursed her lips tightly and her tears were still in her eyes. She looked so weak, which made the

experienced old man feel pity.

"Speak your true plan, child."

"Grandpa," Jodie whispered, "To tell you the truth, I really don't want to leave Heinz. I don't want to

leave him. I have been thinking about this problem on the plane my whole way back. If I can come

back, I must return to Heinz's side and be a good wife."

Old Master Carter didn't say a single word as he stared at Jodie.

"But Heinz doesn't like me. He has changed his mind. I also know that I shouldn't force him anymore."

Jodie said, "But I still can't get

over it emotionally. I am reluctant to let him go. I came to see you because I want you to help me

persuade Heinz."

"Oh Jodie," the old man looked at her and said calmly, "I feel distressed when I heard about your

unfortunate experience. Even though I know that you have suffered all these years, I can't persuade

Heinz."

"Grandpa," Jodie nodded her head. "I know that this is too much to ask."

"I don't know what happened between the two of you, but over the past six years, I know that Heinz has

done his duty to your parents. For both reasons and sentiments, he is worthy," the old man said.

"Yes." Jodie nodded. "I know, but I just can't let go. I agreed to his request for a divorce yesterday. I feel

terrible whenever I think of it. I'm afraid that I can't keep living anymore."

"It's okay." The old man said, "Look, my wife has passed away for so many years, and my daughter is

not by my side. Am I not very well? It can be seen that in this world, no matter what, you can keep

living the same life."

Jodie nodded. "Grandpa, can you really not help me to persuade Heinz?"

Before Old Master Carter could open his mouth, Heinz's voice could be heard from the door.

He said loudly, "He can't beg me for you, because he knows that I won't agree."

"Heinz?" Jodie was shocked. She looked up at Heinz and stood up unconsciously.

Heinz had walked in and appeared in front of her in a flash.

Heinz looked at the woman in front of him with a cold expression and sat down opposite her.

At this time, Lester and the lawyer also came in.

Jodie's eyes turned red as soon as she saw this situation.

Heinz said in a deep voice, "Jodie, let's talk about it. What do you want in return for our divorce?"

Jodie met Heinz's gaze. "I don't want anything, I just want..."

She only wanted Heinz, but now, it seemed like everything was impossible.

"What is it that you're thinking about?"

"She doesn't want to divorce," the old man chimed in.

Heinz glanced at the old man.

The old man sighed and said, "Jodie, the Jones family wants a well- educated and knowledgeable

woman. They also want a woman who can continue the line for many generations to come."
