Chapter 674
Jodie was in a mess. Her eyes widened as she looked at Old Master Carter. She murmured, "Grandpa,
do you dislike me now? Even you think that I'm not good, right?"
Old Master Carter didn't say anything.
His silence was equivalent to his acquiescence.
Jodie was completely stunned. Tears welled up in her big eyes, making her look exceptionally
miserable.
Heinz said, "Jodie, I must divorce you and dissolve this marriage. Although I have not filed a lawsuit, I
had already handed it over to the lawyer, and not long after, the news about your death in Alsburg put
this matter to rest. If there is a lawyer who can act as a witness and I file the lawsuit, our divorce trial
will be effective very soon."
"Heinz!" Jodie felt a stab of pain in her heart. "I know, I know you can do that. I understand."
"Then sign it." Heinz glanced at Lester and his lawyer.
They quickly put the divorce agreement in front of Jodie.
Jodie saw that it was the agreement from six years ago. Heinz's signature came into view.
She felt pain in her eyes, as if it had been pricked by needles.
She bit her lips and shook her head. She could not believe that the agreement actually still existed.
She whispered, "Heinz, even if it's a divorce, the date of signing should be now."
"No," Heinz replied coolly. "I signed the agreement six years ago. You, on the other hand, promised to
sign the agreement and have never fulfilled your promise."
"Heinz, I didn't sign it because I was sad. I didn't want to. I didn't expect you to abandon me after we
fell in love."
Heinz didn't approve of this statement. "It was you who proposed the divorce. You mentioned it several
times and you know that very well, Jodie. If I blamed you for what happened back then, I think it would
be unfair. We'll divide the blame in half. It's only because we were too young to know what we wanted."
"You're killing our love?" Jodie asked in embarrassment. "Do you think you were wrong to love me?"
Heinz did not speak but looked at Jodie with a silent expression in his cold eyes.
Jodie looked at this familiar yet unfamiliar man. She realized that six years had passed and that they
had put an insurmountable chasm between them.
She wanted to cross the chasm.
However, Heinz was still accelerating the excavation of this chasm.
She felt Heinz's ruthlessness and cruelty.
Jodie was so uncomfortable that she felt like she was suffocating. The suffocation rushed into her
head. She had no choice but to ball her fists and beat her chest hard.
"I really hate myself. I hate myself so much."
Heinz berated her in a deep voice, "Jodie, please don't do this."
Jodie once again felt a stab of pain.
Heinz stood up, looked down at her and said to Lester, "Lester, keep an eye on Miss Lawson and make
sure she signs the agreement."
He turned around and left, not wanting to see Jodie like this.
"Wait!" Jodie also stood up. "Heinz, if you want me to sign it, we have to do it alone. The rest of the
people should back off."
Heinz frowned and turned to look at Jodie.
She looked up at him, her eyes sad and desperate.
Heinz nodded and said, "Okay. Grandpa, you guys step aside for a while."
Old Master Carter had no choice but to stand up. He looked at Heinz and gave him an exhorting look.
"There better not be lives lost."
The old man was well- experienced and knowledgeable, so he naturally understood how the situation
could turn bad.
Heinz nodded calmly.
Everyone left, leaving only Heinz and Jodie in the room.
Jodie felt helpless and rushed over. She hugged Heinz and buried her face in his chest. She gasped for
air but still felt stifled.
Panting, Jodie's face was pale and her face was drained of color.
"Heinz, why are you so cruel and heartless?" Jodie burst into tears.
Heinz didn't move and he pursed his thin lips. He didn't comfort Jodie but said in a low voice, "Jodie,
just sign it. I must divorce you. I don't want us to go through the legal route now that you've just come
back." "I'll sign it." Jodie said, "I'll sign it. Don't worry, I won't blame you. Although I don't want to, there's
no way I can be with you."
When Heinz heard that she would sign the agreement, he became a little calmer.
The depressing atmosphere made it hard for both of them to breathe. Heinz looked at Jodie and said
after a long time, "Don't hug me anymore, Jodie, because it's not appropriate. Our relationship ended
long ago. I hope you and I will learn to respect each other."
"Heinz!" Jodie was even more embarrassed by his ruthless words.
She looked at Heinz with mess in her eyes.

Heinz looked down at her and said, "Your parents want half of my Jones Estate. I can promise to give it
to you. Consider it compensation for your relationship with me."
"I don't want it." Jodie shook her head. "I don't want anything. I didn't get what I wanted and I don't want
any property either. If I can't get what I want, then I don't want anything. Let's just keep our memories."
"Giving you half of the estate is my own choice," Heinz said.
"I know you are willing." Jodie laughed self-depreciatively, which looked worse than crying. "Heinz, you
don't actually want to compensate me; you just want to be free and then feel at ease with your new
lover, right?"
Heinz's brows were knitted into a deep frown. Those words were unpleasant to his ears.
"Jodie, you have always been so sharp. Even after six years, now that you're back, you continue to be
so sharp. I think in those six years, the suffering you went through wasn't enough for you."
Jodie turned a deaf ear. "Heinz, half of the Jones Estate means buying your freedom. You think that if
you can buy it, then your freedom is worth it."
"That's right."
"But it's not worth it for me." Jodie smiled bitterly. "I know your ability and power. If you want a divorce,
you can go with the law. You can still walk away cleanly, and I would not get even a single penny."
Heinz frowned slightly.
He could indeed do it this way, but he didn't think it was necessary since it didn't come to that yet.
"If you still refuse to sign, I can proceed, and I will cease any contact with the Lawson family for the rest

After she said that, her face became paler. She sat down and took over the divorce agreement from six

Heinz looked at the divorce agreement in Jodie's hands that had been signed and his heart finally fell
