Chapter 672

"Heinz, it's said that a day together as husband and wife means endless devotion for the rest of yournovelbin

life; one night of love is worth a hundred friendships. You two have been in love for so long, so how can

you break up just like that?" Pearlyn still pretended to be hospitable. "She is so miserable now. If you

really divorce her, Jodie can't go on living. Can you bear it?"

"Contrary to what you said," Heinz said, "During the six years in Alsburg, without me, she survived,

didn't she?"

Pearlyn was stunned and her expression became a bit stiff. "Heinz, we are worried about Jodie."

"Six years without me, yet she survived. Besides, the time I spent with her was very limited. We didn't

know much about each other, so our marriage ended in divorce six years ago."

Pearlyn frowned. "But she can't give birth to a child now and you have nothing to waste. You have a

woman and children, and your children are already five years old. Between the two of you, who is

worse off?"

Heinz looked at Pearlyn and did not avoid her when she questioned him.

He no longer felt any pity for Pearlyn. Previously, because of Jodie's death, he was worried about

Jodie's parents. But now, Jodie had come back to life and he did not feel guilty anymore.

He looked relatively calm and at peace. "I only got a woman after Jodie broke up with me. Although the

marriage was still legally binding, I had signed the divorce agreement at that time. She ran away from

the agreement and left soon after. I was a widower. There was no act of cheating in our marriage."

"You're quibbling." Pearlyn was getting agitated. "Jodie is kind and won't let us force you, but as

parents, how can we turn a blind eye? She's our daughter. She suffered and was wronged. How can

we turn a blind eye to her?"

Heinz looked at her quietly with a pair of calm eyes.

Pearlyn was a little annoyed by his gaze and she couldn't help shouting, "Think about it. What's wrong

with you? She was pregnant with your child and she can't bear any more children because of the

unfortunate miscarriage, but you act like nothing is wrong?"

"I'm very sorry," Heinz said. "I'm sorry about this, but I can't do anything about it."

"Heinz!" Pearlyn stood up.

"Pearlyn, that's enough." Nathan said, "Don't you see it clearly? Heinz's heart has not been with Jodie

for a long time. He has Grace in his heart. Why would he be with our daughter?"

Heinz felt wronged but he didn't explain himself.

He fell silent. Looking at the two of them, he said, "Where did Jodie go? I can go and find her."

"We don't know." Nathan said, "You don't like Jodie anymore. We can talk about divorce but what

conditions and price can you pay?"

Heinz frowned and said, "You can make the conditions."

"Heinz!" Nathan smiled gently and said, "You don't even call me your father now. You regarded us as

your parents before."

"Things have changed," Heinz said. "I don't think it's appropriate to call you both that now. Your

daughter is back. You should prefer that a person who loves your daughter call you both parents, but I

am not that person. I'm sorry, very sorry."

When Nathan heard Heinz's words, he smiled and felt a little helpless. "Heinz, you are really one who

can make a person speechless."

Heinz was silent as he sat on the sofa.

Pearlyn was still standing.

He did not meet Pearlyn's gaze but only looked at Nathan. His eyes were filled with determination.

"State your conditions."

"Even if you give us the Jones Estate, you'd still be unable to make up for the fact that Jodie can no

longer get pregnant."

"Indeed." Heinz nodded. "I admit that what you said makes sense."

"How can you be so indifferent?"

"For six years, on Jodie's behalf, I took care of you both. I have already done what I had to do as a

person. Now that Jodie has returned, I am still very welcoming. It's just that we can't live together

anymore."

"I know you two love your daughter very much and now, even if you want half of the Jones Estate, I

won't frown. All of this is compensation."

"Half of the Jones Estate?" Nathan looked at Heinz in disbelief. "Are you sure you want to give half of

the Jones Estate to Jodie?"

"As long as she signs this divorce agreement and we obtain the divorce certificate, I am willing to give

half of it to her." What Heinz wanted was to be a free man.

A free man who could afford to take care of Grace.

Nathan shook his head and said, "You may leave. Heinz, Jodie is not home, and I am tired and want to

rest. If you want to divorce her, you can wait outside for Jodie. When she comes back, you can ask her

what she wants."

"Didn't she tell you where she was going?" Heinz asked.

"No," Nathan replied without any hesitation.

He didn't even need to think about it. This was obviously a lie.

Nathan and Pearlyn must have known where Jodie was going, but they didn't want to say.

Sure enough, the phone rang.

He saw that it was a call from the Giaus family.

Heinz picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Heinz, get over here," his grandfather said urgently.

Heinz asked, "Grandpa, what's the matter?" "Heinz, it's an urgent matter." Grandpa said, "And it's very

troublesome."

Heinz's eyes flashed and he said, "Grandpa, did Jodie go to your place?"

Grandpa froze for a moment and immediately said, "You know about Jodie's return?"

"Yes." Heinz said as he stood up. Without looking at Nathan and Pearlyn, he strode away.

He knew what Nathan and Pearlyn meant. Now that Jodie was at his grandfather's place, they didn't

say anything and hoped that his grandfather would step in to intervene.

"Grandpa, I'll go back right now. Tell Jodie to wait for me. I'll go over and settle the divorce with her."

When his grandfather heard this, he immediately understood Heinz's attitude.

"Okay, don't worry. I know what to do."

Heinz held his phone and left quickly.

Nathan and Pearlyn watched him walk away without even looking back. Both of them sighed as they

looked at each other.

"What should we do, Nathan? Heinz is determined to divorce Jodie."

"That's something that we've already expected."

"But it's obvious that she doesn't want it," Pearlyn said. "What should we do? She likes Heinz very

much and she cried the whole night last night. Our child crying like that made me feel as if a knife had

cut through my heart."

"I know that too. I heard it all." Nathan was also in a very awkward situation, and he felt sorry for his

daughter. "Jodie came back. How lucky is she? We had already given up on her. Now, she came back

to life and broke the peace in front of us. Heinz found Grace and we also met her. They have a good

relationship, but it's right for us to love our daughter. Let's fight for our child. Until the end, we will not

give up."

"Do you think Heinz's grandfather will agree?" Pearlyn was still hopeful. "I think his grandfather still

likes our daughter very much."

"Things are different now," Nathan said. "Grace already has children, but our daughter can't bear

children. Who do you think you would choose if it was you?"
