Chapter 199 Venting Grievances

"Why not?" paused Ranita before explaining further, "Even if I haven't terminated my contract withStuart's Corp., I can still undertake other projects independently without breaching anyagreements."

"You're also helping Steve translate academic reports - how many more things don't I know aboutyet?" Brendon rubbed his fingers together thoughtfully while scrutinizing her expression closely.

There were plenty of things he didn't know! But instead of confessing any secrets, Ranita simplypursed lips tightly and said, "I work hard for money – who I collaborate or work alongside isn't reallyimportant."

"So why can't you continue working for Stuart's Corp.?"

"What do you think?" countered back a puzzled-looking but defiantly-toned voice from Ranita whichleft Brendon momentarily speechless since he couldn't come up with an answer right away.

Just then Ranita's phone rang loudly interrupting their conversation - It was Eve calling inexcitement.

"Ranita have you checked Twitter yet? Hurry up and check it out!"

"What happened?" Ranita asked, unaware of the online drama as she rarely paid attention to it.

"Hahaha! I'm so happy right now, I just want to crack open a cold one and celebrate yourvindication. Shannon and Paityn got what they deserved!" Eve laughed loudly enough for Brendonto hear.

Ranita apologized to Brendon with a gesture and whispered, "She's just blunt. She didn't mean anyharm towards Miss Murphy."

"Who are you talking to?" Eve's ears perked up as she overheard. "Is Brendon next to you?"

Ranita nodded before hearing Eve's rant. "Ha! It wasn't malicious towards Shannon; it wasdisgusting!"

"If he has a problem with it, tell him to come find me," Eve boasted fearlessly. But Ranita knewbetter than to let her anger provoke Brendon since Eve worked in the entertainment industry anddidn't want any trouble with investors.

"I understand. I'll call you after dinner," Ranita said before hanging up the phone, noticing thatBrendon looked upset.

"My friend is just straightforward; don't take it personally," Ranita tried comforting him but wasinterrupted by his phone ringing.

She glanced at his phone before lowering her head in silence while he answered Shannon's call.

Brendon called out in a deep voice, "Shannon, what's wrong?"

"Brendon, ... Brendon, I want to apologize to Ranita. I didn't mean for the online incident to happen.I was trying to help her, but now so many people are cursing me," Shannon cried miserably, hervoice hoarse, and her nasal tone almost making it difficult to understand.

Brendon left his seat with the phone in hand to comfort his loved one.

The meal ended abruptly.

In her room, Ranita checked her messages. Early that morning, ES brand designer Louis Wangposted a clarification, stating that the blue velvet dress Ranita wore was genuine, personallymodified by him, and criticized Paityn for speaking without understanding the value.

Moreover, the designer also shared photos of Ranita trying on the dress, not only showcasing herethereal beauty but also outclassing Shannon in terms of charisma. With the brand's officialstatement and Marlon's legal actions, several IDs were directly banned!

The critics were left speechless.

The onlookers enjoyed the show, but Shannon and Paityn's fans dared not make a peep.

The heat around the topic quickly subsided, replaced by other trending subjects, and the incidentseemed to be over on the surface.

No wonder Shannon called Brendon, seeking comfort.

Ranita, feeling tired from staring at her phone, was about to take a break when her phone chimed.novelbin
