Chapter 520

After almost thirty minutes of contemplation, Clarence ultimately compromised and agreed to Rhonda'ssuggestion.

“All right. Let's do as you say, but you'll have to settle all the necessary arrangements and make surenothing happens between her and me. I'm not a scoundrel who will touch my own...” novelbin

“Don't worry, Dad. We're just using this incident to ruin her reputation. That way, she won't be able tofight with Zoey anymore, and nor will she be able to marry into the Luther family. I won't let you ditchthe play pretend.”

“Great. I'll find time to meet Zoey to share this plan with her and get her to cooperate with us.”

A calculating glint flashed across Rhonda's eyes as she curled the corners of her lips into a smile.

Deep down, she had thought of an exciting plan which she reckoned could kill two birds with one stone.

Bailey aside, I also want Zoey to get thrown out of the Shurmer family. For example, I'll lead the publicto misunderstand that she was the culprit for scheming Bailey to sleep with Clarence. Then, I'll exposethat Zoey isn't the daughter of the Shurmer family, and her evil ploy against Bailey was to tie up allloose ends so that she can secure her identity as the Shurmer family's daughter. That way, both thesebit*hes will be screwed, regardless if it's Bailey or that proud as a peacock Zoey. Haha! I must devise aperfect scheme to make the two women fight against each other and tarnish their reputations!

Having endured the indignance in silence for the past month, she wanted to settle all scores withinterest since she finally seized an opportunity.

“Dad, perhaps it's better for me to talk with Zoey instead. After all, she's my sister from another mother.I'll be sure to help her secure everything she has now.”

Clarence nodded. “That works too. You sisters must help each other out from now on. If she's doingwell, you'll do well in the future too. I'll find you a good family in a few years after everything dies down. With Zoey helping you, I believe you'll be able to live a better life in the future.”

Hah! My life is worse than death right now. How is it possible that I'll be doing well? Besides, I'm notinterested in living the so-called good life either.

In truth, all she wanted was to drag those people she was jealous of down with her as she was sick ofstruggling alone in the abyss of pain and agony.

...

Meanwhile, Olivia hurried over to the medical base while Justin was out.

In the ward, Veronique hurriedly sat up in bed upon seeing Olivia showing up so abruptly.

She was not supposed to sit up since she just underwent surgery. However, she thought it wasdisrespectful to remain lying on the bed with Olivia's appearance.

“M-Mrs. Xuereb, what brings you here?”

Instead of responding, Olivia scrutinized Veronique from head to toe before she finally fixed her gazeon the latter's flat belly.

“I heard you removed your uterus?”

Veronique pursed her lips as she noticed the disgusted look in Olivia's hostile gaze.

“It's a malignant tumor. I have no choice but to remove my uterus. In a way, the Xuereb family has anheir since we have Zephyr now. Y-You—”

Olivia cut her off with a dismissive wave before she could finish speaking. “How can someone sicklyinherit the Xuereb family? Who knows if he'll suffer a relapse? I've zero confidence in entrusting himwith the Xuereb family's legacy.”

Veronique's expression changed dramatically upon hearing that. Aren't her words a bit too harsh?Zephyr is her grandson, after all! How can she curse him like that?

“Then, what do you want?”

“What do I want?” Olivia could not help but sneer. “I want you to leave Justin. How can a barren womanstake a claim over my son? Also, the Xuereb family couldn't care less about that sickly child of yours. Ifyou're smart enough, take your son and leave. Don't be a burden to Justin and cause our family line toend here. Name a price if it's money that you're after. We'll settle things once and for all.”

After hearing what Olivia said, Veronique's pale face turned even more ghastly white.

She knew Olivia had never liked her. Nonetheless, it was beyond her imagination that the latter wouldbe so blunt and nasty with her words.

It's enough that she lashes out at me, but how can she curse Zephyr too?

“I'm not interested in money. Zephyr and I are Justin's responsibilities. He needs to be responsible tous. There's no need for you to provoke me like this. It's pointless. I've made up my mind that I'll dependon Justin forever. I won't leave him no matter what you say.”

“Y-You...” Boiling in anger, Olivia lifted her finger and pointed at Veronique's belly. “Look at yourself rightnow. You can't even satisfy a man's basic needs. How dare you insist on not letting Justin go? Didn'tyou always say you love him? Is burdening him your way of expressing your love?”

Veronique bit her lip.

As much as she kept reminding herself not to take Olivia's words to heart, those words left such atremendous impact on her mind that she could not help but feel upset.

“Please leave. I will never leave Justin. Unless you can talk him into abandoning me, or else no one willbe able to make me leave him.”

Livid, Olivia stomped her foot on the floor and spat through clenched teeth, “Since you don't seem tounderstand what I've said, I can only talk to your father and have him educate his shameless daughterproperly. He should bring you back to discipline you well.”

Just then, Zephyr ran in from outside. He wore a furious expression as he threw Olivia a glare androared, “I think you're the one who needs some discipline. Sadly, I heard that your father is dead. Iguess there's no one to educate you anymore, and that's why you're so rude and arrogant.”

Olivia had never suffered such humiliation in her life.

Besides, the one doing so was only a child. It was only natural that she could not suppress her rageany longer.

Without hesitation, she raised her hand and threw it toward Zephyr's face.

Veronique shrieked in horror and struggled to get out of bed when she saw what was happening.

“Don't touch Zephyr. Take it out on me if there's anything you're unhappy about.”

“What an uncultured brat. Since your mom doesn't know how to teach you to be respectful to theelders, I shall teach you a good lesson.”

With that said, Olivia swung her arm viciously.

At the most critical moment, a silhouette dashed past the door and crashed straight into Olivia'sstomach. That caused her to stumble several steps backward before she plopped right down onto thefloor.

Rubbing his forehead, Zayron scoffed, “Whoever dares bully my buddy will get headbutted by me.”

It was unsure how much strength the boy had used, but Olivia was left sitting on the floor, cradling herstomach and crying in pain.

When Bailey walked in from outside to find Veronique sprawled by the side of the bed, her expressionturned cold immediately.

“You just had an operation two days ago. How can you do something so intense? Hurry and lie down.”

Seeing that the supposed slap was not hurled at Zephyr's cheek, Veronique heaved a sigh of relief andlay back down on the bed.

Bailey coldly glanced at Olivia, who was still sitting on the floor. She knew what had happened evenwithout asking any questions or deliberation.

“Mrs. Xuereb, you sure are quite high and mighty. Vero hasn't married into the Xuereb family, yet you'realready acting as if you're her mother-in-law. In that case, does that mean you've acknowledged Veroas your daughter-in-law?”

“Who acknowledged her?” Olivia fumed while struggling to stand up. “Why will the Xuereb familyaccept someone who's going to die?”

Bailey's gaze darkened at once. She snickered icily as she threw Olivia an intimidating glare. “If youhaven't accepted her, what right do you have to come here and tell her what to do? Please wait untilshe becomes the daughter-in-law of the Xuereb family before you do so.”

“Y-You...” Olivia was so mad she began speaking without a filter. “You are just a bast*rd child whodoesn't even know who your father is. What right do you have to criticize me that way?”
