Chapter 521

Bailey's expression darkened. One of the things that she hated was people questioning her parentage.

Initially, Bailey had wanted to spare Olivia from the humiliation on the account of the former'srelationship with Justin.

However, since the old woman had decided to trample all over her, Bailey had no reason to put up withit. After all, she was not a sanctimonious doormat.

So what if Olivia was older? The woman had no self-respect and thus, did not have the right to demandrespect from Bailey.

“I'm an illegitimate child whose biological father is not a stellar person. This is a well-known fact, Mrs.Xuereb. I don't need you to remind me of this.”

When Bailey said that, she angled her head at Zephyr and continued, “I don't think I need pity. But you,Mrs. Xuereb, deserve the pity more than I do. After all, even your own grandson won't acknowledgeyou, and he can't wait to put you out of your misery. I'm begging you to regain what's left of yourhumanity and spare him. It's sad that one so young already has seeds of deep hatred planted in hisheart.”

Olivia was so angry that she shuddered. “Y-You... My son owns this medical base! Get lost!”

Bailey arched a brow and smirked. “Your son, you say? I seem to remember that it was my man whopaid for all the construction, and it was my man who funded Justin's research and development. Idaresay the one who needs to leave is you.”

Olivia convulsed twice, gasping for air as her eyes rolled back. Eventually, she fainted.

Bailey immediately stepped forward and reached out to catch the old woman before she landed on theground. She then looked outside and shouted, “Mrs. Xuereb has fainted! Can someone hurry and bringher to bed so she can rest?”

A middle-aged housekeeper hurried inside with two younger women behind her.

“Mrs. Xuereb? What's the matter? Are you okay?”

“She was so livid that she passed out,” replied Bailey mildly. “I'm the culprit, naturally. But if she wishesto continue this fight after she wakes up, I'm more than happy to oblige.”

After watching the housekeepers carry Olivia away, Bailey sneered. “Even the strong-willed Mrs. Luthercouldn't get in my good graces. She still wants to control me. I hate these troublemaking rich old ladieswho can't even get their facts straight before acting.”

Veronique could not help but laugh and said hoarsely, “To be honest, what she did was not wrong. Ihad my uterus removed, and I am dying. She did nothing wrong in wanting me to stay away from herson. To top things off, Zephyr's condition is unstable, and the Xuereb family's lineage must be keptgoing. She—”

“Veronique.” Bailey's expression had darkened significantly as she narrowed her eyes at the otherwoman, cutting her off loudly. “When did you become so pedantic? After hearing what Olivia has to say, what do you plan on doing? Do you want to leave Justin?”

“Yes, I am considering it.”

Bailey took a deep breath, barely suppressing the rage that threatened to spill over. “Forget it. You'vejust had an operation, and your mood is unstable. I do not want to go through the same ordeal you did.Just take care of yourself. You won't die.”

Veronique smiled bitterly.

I won't die? I have malignant uterine cancer. There have been no cases where someone has survivedthis.

Veronique did not dare get her hopes up. If the heavens wanted her and could let Zephyr recoverwithout a lifetime of pain, then she would have died willingly for him.

...

At the café, Rhonda and Zoey found a table near a window.

“Tell me. Why did you ask to meet me today?”

Rhonda curved her lips into a smile and poured Zoey a cup of coffee before pushing it in front of thelatter. “We are half-sisters born of the same father but different mothers. Misery loves company, Iguess. We've both had to endure Bailey, and I think we should be allies.”

Zoey looked as if she had heard the world's best joke. With a sneer, she replied, “Allies? Before this, Iplanned to sabotage your marriage to Artemis. I even gave you abortifacients. It's fine if you don't planon backstabbing me, yet you want to work together? Don't take me for a fool, Rhonda. I'm nowhere

near as stupid as you think.”

The smile on Rhonda's face never faded despite hearing all this. “First of all, Artemis never intended tomarry me, to begin with,” said Rhonda leisurely. “That marriage was a sham. He'd arranged for abeggar to marry me. If anything, I should thank you for wrecking it.”

“Secondly,” continued Rhonda, “The evil seed in my belly belonged to Cadence. It was filthy andshameful. Thus, I had no intention of keeping it. You helped me get rid of it, which was exactly what Iwanted. Why would I fault you for that? Now that we're all in the same boat, just tell me whether or notyou want to cooperate.”

Zoey narrowed her eyes and frowned at Rhonda. She remained silent for a while before asking, “Youreally hate Bailey, eh?”

Immediately, Rhonda's face turned cold as she hissed, “She forced me to marry a beggar and mademy life a living hell. How can I not despise her? I don't just hate her. I want to rip her skin off andcrumble her bones to ashes.” novelbin

The smile on Zoey's face gradually deepened. Sofie was the one who taught Zoey how to use others todo her dirty work, after all.

Now that this id*ot Rhonda has so willingly offered herself to me, I'm naturally going to make use ofthis.

“Fine, I believe you. Tell me, then. How do you wish to cooperate?”

Rhonda had been set up by Bailey many times, and thus she was well aware. Seeing Zoey's sudden

change in demeanor, Rhonda knew that the scheming b*tch wanted to use her to deal with Bailey.

Ha. We'll see who ends up being used.

What Rhonda wanted was for Bailey and Zoey to be pushed into ruin. Neither of them could be spared.

“I'm planning on...”

Rhonda then told Zoey about the plan she had hatched.

After Zoey heard this, she looked very surprised.

I didn't know that she was capable of such vitriol. I guess Rhonda really wants to push Bailey over theedge.
