Shirley was elated when the embryo was transferred into her body.
She failed to get Zeke to sleep with her, and she wasn't able to make him give out his sperm willingly.Hence, she could only resort to underhand tactics to get her way.

“How are you doing, Shirley? Are you feeling okay?”

A look of hesitation flashed across Genevieve's face. She pondered for a moment before saying,“Shirley, you must never ever let Zeke do a paternity test with the baby in your belly. Do you hear me?”
Shirley was stunned. She then looked at her mother, confused. “But why not? This child is Zeke's, sowhy can't he do the paternity test?”
Genevieve averted her gaze and stammered, “I-I'm just worried that when they examined the baby'sblood during the paternity test, they'll find out that it's a test tube baby. You have to bring this secret toyour grave, and you can't let Zeke suspect anything. Do you understand?”
Shirley had her doubts, but she thought that her mother would never do anything to harm her, so shenodded. “Okay. I'll remember what you said. I'll never let Zeke do a paternity test with this child.”
“Good. Just listen to me. I promise you that you'll marry into the Shurmer family in no time.”
“Thanks, Mom.”
In the study at the Jefferson residence, Rhonda wore an evil smile as she leaned against the cupboard,looking at Clarence who was sitting on the couch.
“Why are you hesitating, Dad? Bailey is not your daughter. You have raised her for nothing, and sheended up putting me in this predicament. As if that isn't bad enough, she's now planning to dosomething to Zoey as well. Oh, by the way, you should know about Zoey's background by now, right?Are you going to stand by and watch her ruin the lives of both of your daughters?”
Clarence threw the newspaper in his hands onto the table. “How dare she!”
Rhonda scoffed. “Of course she dares to do so! She gave me to a beggar and allowed him to tormentme. She already did something so heinous, so there's nothing she wouldn't do.”
She then continued, “The public is now calling her an illegitimate child, so she's eager to prove thatshe's not. There's only one way for her to do so, and that is to return to the Shurmer family to reclaimher identity. Think about it. If someone as ruthless as her were to return to the Shurmer family, what doyou think will happen to your daughter, Zoey?”
Clarence's face contorted in anger. He was planning to use Zoey to gain more benefits for the Jeffersonfamily, so he would never allow Bailey to ruin Zoey's status in the Shurmer family.
“Ronni, I know you have various tricks up your sleeves. Help me think of a way to deal with her.”
Rhonda smiled, clearly pleased with herself. She knew Clarence like the back of her hand and wasaware of what he wanted. Therefore, as long as she played her cards right, he would surely take thebait.
“It's simple. You have to ruin Bailey before she gets the chance to ruin Zoey. Make the Shurmer familybe ashamed of her. That way, the Shurmer family will never let her return to the family. Zoey would besafe if that happens.”
“How do I ruin her?” Clarence asked in a low voice.

That way, they would want to stay as far away from her aspossible. This is the only accusation that would destroy her to the point of no return. Everywhere shegoes, people will regard her with disdain. Didn't you want Zoey to marry into the Luther family? Bailey'sreputation will surely be ruined if you go with this method. By then, everyone from the Luther familywould object even if Artemis wanted to marry her. Both the Shurmer family and the Luther family won'taccept her. Clarence was trembling all over. Apparently, the method that Rhonda suggested affected him greatly.

Clarence's legs gave out as he slumped on the couch.
