Chapter 653

Chapter 653 The Helpless Ones

After Alex sorted everything out, he returned home. He missed his son, as he had not met his son formore than two days.

Heather’s family wasn’t influenced when the Jenningses had filed for bankruptcy because Heather hadtendered her resignation a long time ago. It was the best out of the worst possible outcomes.

Alex had thought of dropping by the kindergarten to pick Stanley up, but it was a futile attempt.

By the time he arrived home, it was already six o’clock in the evening. As soon as he stepped into theliving room, he ran into his brother-in-law and mother-in-law.

Lucas had his eyes glued to his phone since he was in the middle of a game. Meanwhile, Carmen wasseated next to her son on the couch, watching the television.

When Alex passed by the duo, he thought of ignoring them and marched in the direction of Stanley’s

room.

It was then that Carmen slammed the coffee table with all her might and bellowed, “What are you doinghere? Haven’t you been trying to hit on someone else because our family is no longer in our prime?”

Alex had no intention to engage himself in another conflict. He just couldn’t figure out the reason theywouldn’t stop picking on him.

Not wanting to talk to them, Alex was about to return to his son’s room. Just then, Heather walked outof the kitchen and said. “Alex, I think we need to talk.”

He turned around and looked at Heather. Then he said coldly, “What is it? Why don’t you tell me now?I’ll take Stanley away with me in a short while.”

Carmen was upset by Alex’s attitude. She sprang up from her seat and rushed to her daughter’s side, reprimanding her son-in-law, “Is this the way you’re supposed to talk to my daughter?”

She seemed to have forgotten Alex wasn’t an easy target when Alex was being courteous to them.“Also, where do you think you’re taking Stanley with you? You’re not allowed to take him away fromus!” Alex turned around and remarked, “Stanley’s my son! I can take him wherever I want as hisfather!”

“Stop getting full of yourself! Shall we not forget my daughter is his mother as well? We’re talking aboutmy grandson!”

“Well, I’m afraid that won’t be for long.”

Halfway through the conversation, Heather asked, “Are you trying to take him away and divorce mebecause of that woman?”

Seconds after Heather finished her sentence, Carmen went berserk because she couldn’t believe theman she deemed a wimp had gotten himself into an affair with someone else.

“How dare you cheat on Heather when you’re just a live-in son-in-law? I’m going to kill you for betrayingmy daughter!” Carmen started throwing punches at Alex.novelbin

Alex was irked and thought he would never return if it weren’t because of his son. After all, thefenningtes were nothing but a bunch of fools.

He pushed his mother-in-law aside and repeated himself in a callous tone, “Heather, I’ve made myselfclear for once, and I’m going to repeat myself for one last time. I’ve never cheated on you. If you still

think that’s not the case, we can always file for divorce whenever you’re ready.”

He returned to Stanley’s room and greeted his son with a bright grin once he made himself clear.

Stanley was initially occupied with a book, but when he saw Alex, he catapulted in the direction of hisfather.

you been? The little boy snuggled against his father and asked in a mellifluous voice, “Daddy, wherehave Why were you away for such a long time? Can you take me along with you whenever you’re awayin the future?”

All of a sudden, Alex stopped holding a grudge against Heather and her family because they wereaffiliated with his son at the end of the day.

He kissed his son on the forehead and said, “I was occupied with something for the past two days, but Irushed over as soon as I was done.”

Alex thought of taking Stanley away with him. However, he changed his mind at the last minute andspent a night with Stanley in his room.
