Chapter 188 Alex Is A Suspected Rapist
“This is Alex!” Jacob said immediately, pointing at Alex. Jacob breathed a sigh of relief. The policecould do whatever they wanted with Alex so long it did not trouble his family.
Ever since Jacob tricked and scammed Kate, he had been living in worry that one day Kate wouldappear to get her revenge on him.
“You’re Alex Jefferson?” The policeman asked.
“I am.” Alex nodded his head indifferently.
“I’m going to need you to come with us to assist on an investigation,” the policeman said. Theyproceeded to lead Alex out without another word.
Seeing Alex being taken away, the crowd let out a sigh of relief.
“Oh dear, Aunt Carmen,” Jacob mocked loudly, “I’m afraid your live–in son–in–law got himself intotrouble with the law this time. I saw a news report two days ago that a woman was stalked by anunknown man. He assaulted her and then raped her. Who knows? Maybe Alex is that unknown man.”
“Of course, why else would the police detain him?”
“Exactly! He’s nothing but a useless junk who feeds off scraps. Why would they take him away unlesshe
did commit such a grave crime?”
“It’s a shame, really. The fellow always looked very honest. Who would have expected him to dosomething so horrible and disgusting?”
Whispers raced through the crowd as everyone hurried to put their two cents into the discussion.Nobody explicitly mentioned the Jennings family in this case, but the Jennings‘ all felt the buildingshame and embarrassment Alex had brought onto them.
“Granny, Alex had just tarnished our family’s name thanks to his actions,” Jacob said suddenly. It hadoccurred to him that this was the perfect chance to finally get rid of Heather and her family. Theopportunity was too appealing to pass over. He suggested, “Why don’t we just cast him and his familyout of the Jennings family? It will prevent anyone from making fun of our family too.”
“Yeah, Granny,” Lucy agreed. “Not only is Alex a crook, but he’s also now guilty of being a rapist! If wedon’t expel his entire family, us Jennings‘ are going to be the laughing stock of the town forever.”

“Granny,” Lucas pleaded with the old lady. “Please! We’ll kick that useless scum out of our homeimmediately and make sure he never returns!”
Jacob just made a scornful sound. “The police have already taken him away and he’s going to berotting in jail soon. How can he even return back to your home?”

“Enough,” Demi said with a damning sense of finality. She raised her voice, “As the matriarch of theJennings family, I hereby announce that Adrian Jennings and all of his descendants are struck from theJennings family record. From this moment onwards, these people have nothing to do with the Jenningsfamily!”
The old lady was angry enough to slam her walking stick onto the ground to emphasize her statement.

“You probably still don’t know about it, isis, but just now that useless piece of trash just got himselfarrested by the police on suspicions of being a rapist,” Lucas said grimly. “Granny said he tainted theJennings family name so she decided to cast all of us out of the family!”
Heather felt the world shatter in front of her. Trembling uncontrollably, her face turned pale.
