“You useless scum, what are you talking about? Do you have a death wish, huh?” Jacob growled,raising a hand to hit Alex.

“Sometimes, I really do wonder how your sense of logic functions,” Alex said in disdain. “If I give Harpera normal watch, it means that she’s a whore. So if Henry gives her a branded watch, does it mean thatshe’s a super whore?”
This family was impossible to deal with.
Initially, Alex had no intention of buying her a present at all. It was upon Heather’s insistence afterwardsthat he simply picked out a gift from a nearby watch stall.
The watch looked like it was worth only about thirty. Seeing Alex coming in a luxury car, thestorekeeper proceeded to call a price of hundred at once. Alex didn’t bother to haggle with thestorekeeper either. If he did then he would probably be able to save at least forty or so.
“You think you can compare to Henry? Why don’t you take a closer look at the trash you’ve given me? Ican’t believe you actually have the gall to show up with it!” Harper shrilled loudly while glaring at Alex.She flashed the luxury watch glittering on her wrist at him. “Look at this! Now this is a fifty thousandwatch! Can you afford it? Get out of my sight with this piece of trash!”
The attendees could only sigh in admiration when they saw Harper’s branded watch.
These days, the Hale family was much more influential in Nebula City than the Jennings family. Assuch, Harper marrying into the Hale family was seen as bringing honor and glory to their family. HenryHale would make a wonderful son–in–law.

The Jennings‘ in the crowd all approached the old lady and greeted her respectfully.
Demi glared sternly at the crowd. “Today is Harper’s big day. Why is there a ruckus? Do you all wantthe Jennings family to become the joke of the town?”
“Granny!” Jacob latched onto the old woman immediately and said pitifully, “Today is my baby sister,Harper’s big day and everyone was happy until Alex showed up and implied Harper is cheap. Isn’t thatthe biggest joke anyone can make about us Jennings‘?”

“Granny!” Harper cajoled. Her eyes were hateful as she regarded Alex. “We should throw him and hisfamily out! They’re just an embarrassment to us.”

Currently, the Jennings family only owned 39% of shares in Jennings Inc. In other words, Jennings Inc.was no longer under the control of the Jennings‘. The head of the family had been thinking of selling offtheir remaining stocks and start up a new business venture.

Upon hearing Demi’s declaration, Carmen almost exploded in rage. This is so humiliating!
The moment her gaze swept across the nonchalant Alex, she itched to kick the man out of the roomherself. If it weren’t for her good–for–nothing son–in–law, she would not have to suffer such anembarrassment.
“You worthless piece of trash! I’ll take care of you when we get home.” Carmen hurled viciously at Alex,pointing a shaking finger at his nose. She growled and turned to stalk out of the room.
Before she could exit the room, however, two police officers entered through the door.
Shock spread through the crowd as they got engaged in whispers. They had no idea what washappening. The Jennings‘ were especially surprised and anxious at the sight of the officers.
Although they had not done anything illegal, but it was Harper’s big day today. If words got out thatthere were police on the scene, it would be the talk of the town.
While everyone was caught in confusion, one of the policemen asked, “Is Alex Jefferson here?“.
