“Both of them, of course. It’s their kid. And you keep saying ‘grandson’. If your mom hears you,she’s going to give you an earful. You know she wants a great-granddaughter.”
Liam was speechless for a moment before he retorted, “Does she think it’ll end up that way justbecause she wants it? I’m willing to bet that the baby’s definitely a boy. Our first grandson! I don’tcare if it’s a boy or a girl, though. My first grandchild will be the apple of my eye.
“We can just enjoy spending time with our grandchildren at home in the future.
“Besides, the psychic said that Zack and Serenity will have a boy and a girl. Que sera sera. We’llget a granddaughter someday. They can have a son now and work on having another kid in a fewyears and complete the set then.”
Tania did not mind much whether her first grandchild was a boy or a girl.
Serenity had only gotten pregnant one year after getting married. The elders had been lookingforward to it so much that the baby’s gender did not matter.
“Liam, Mom picked Isabella O’Connor for Austin. They’re the richest family in their city too and arequite on par with us, both in wealth and influence.”
Liam laughed. “With Mom around, we can rest easy. She’s done everything for us already. Thosefellows only fear their Nana anyway. Only she can handle them and make them obediently pursuetheir brides.”
Tania glared at him. “Have you not realized the severity of the problem? Serenity is our eldestdaughter-in-law and Zack will be the head of the Yorks in the future. As the future head missus,Serenity’s family background can’t compare to Isabella’s.
“Will Isabella bully Serenity when she joins our family? They’d both be my daughters-in-law. Whoshould I help?”
After a moment’s silence, Liam said, “You’re jumping to conclusions, Tania. My mother wouldn’t picksomeone with poor character. Isabella won’t bully Serenity even if she marries into the family.
“And besides, do you think Serenity’s a pushover? Don’t you know what she’s like after all this time?And she has Zack. He’s the eldest and all the boys respect him too much for that.
“If Zack can keep the boys in line, Serenity will have her sisters-in-law’s respect.” Liam had fullconfidence in Serenity.
“Mom always says that Zack is special. She decided on Serenity mainly because she knew theywere meant to be. Seren’s family background might be able to measure up to Camryn’s, but it can’tcompare to Hayden’s either, let alone Isabella's.”
Tania was still worried Serenity might get overshadowed by her sisters-in-law in the future.
“Then just favor Seren a little more.” Liam laughed.
Tania then said, “But they’re both my daughters-in-law…”novelbin
“Yeah, but to make things equal, sometimes, you have to favor one more than the other.”
After a moment of thought, Tania said, “I’ll have to give Seren more guidance. Before Isabellamarries into the family, I’ll have to help Seren establish her authority in Wiltspoon so that no onedares to underestimate her.”
“No one underestimates her right now either. People are envious, but no one really dares tounderestimate her.
“Oh, you. You never think about the good and always think about the bad. All of us are reasonablepeople, so don’t worry. And besides, once all the boys get married, they’ll move out and spend mostof the time in their own homes. They’ll only come back here for Christmas.
“It’s easier to love and to tolerate from a distance. With the right distance, you won’t have a singleargument. No matter how impressive Isabella is, she’s just lucky to be born with a silver spoon,while Seren started her own business. Her fresh produce company network just keeps gettingbigger.”
Liam really did have the utmost confidence that Serenity would make a good future head missus ofthe York family.
