Chapter 3131

“Mr. York, did you get a call back for another round of interview?” Weston asked Austin again.

After a pause, Austin answered honestly, “The butler, Dominic, did call me back not long ago for asecond interview tomorrow afternoon.”

Weston immediately looked envious, but still said graciously, “Congratulations are due then, Mr.York. There aren’t many applicants this time around. They’re all staying in the hotels nearby and I’vemet them too. None of them have been called back. Some haven’t even gone for the first interviewyet.”

Austin chuckled. “You’ve already met them all? They’re your competition. How are you sure thatthey’ve told you the truth?”novelbin

Weston was stunned for a moment before he said, “We can’t lie about coming for an interview andcan’t play any underhanded tricks anyway. We might be competitors, but it doesn’t affect anyoneelse whether or not they tell the truth. There’s nothing to lose either.

“Even if everyone makes the same dish, we won’t do it the same way. It could turn out completelydifferent from one person to another.”

Austin smiled and said, “We’re all strangers. I’m sure they’re all wary of others.

“But you do have a point. Like how I wasn’t worried about your visit and discussing cooking with me.When I went for the interview, I didn’t actually cook anything either. I only made some treats for Ms.Tati and Dominic to try, and both said they were passable. Ms. Tati even took some to the office forMs. Isabella to try.”

Afterward, he received the callback.

There was no doubt Isabella had eaten the treats he made.

If Isabella could hear his thoughts, she would probably defend herself by saying that she only atethem because she was worried she could not last a two-hour meeting on an empty stomach.

Austin would probably retort that if they were bad, she could not have stomached them no matterhow hungry she was, to which Isabella would have to concede.

Weston was once again surprised. He asked, “Are you better at making treats? The O’Connorsneed pastry chefs too.”

He thought that if Austin was only good enough to become the O’Connors’ pastry chef, there wasstill hope for himself.

Although he had said they could not play any tricks, Austin was the first to get called back. Westonwas well aware that Austin had a high chance of getting the job, which made him a green-eyedmonster.

Austin was so young. He looked like he was in his mid-twenties at most and his cooking skillssurpassed Weston’s.

He was obviously born to be a chef.

Talent and hard work were what made him surpass many.

“Treats and pastries are what I’m worst at.”

Weston was silent at this. His face fell, feeling that he was going to fail again this time.

If this was another failed attempt, he was not going to try again. He would accept reality.

Some things were not achievable with pure hard work alone.

Austin’s phone rang again.

He dug it out to see that Dominic was calling and hurriedly picked up.

“Where are you right now, Mr. York?” Dominic asked over the phone.
