Austin told Dominic which hotel he was currently staying at.
Dominic answered, “Please wait in the lobby momentarily. I will arrange for someone to pick youup.”
Austin raised his eyebrows and asked, “Right now? Has the interview been brought forward?”
Dominic explained, “No, the interview timing remains. Ms. Isabella instructed me to do this becauseshe says that malicious people have made a big deal out of this hiring and countless people arewatching. We’re worried that one of your competitors will get to you and make you unable to attendthe interview tomorrow.
“So, to make sure every single interviewee attends as scheduled, Ms. Isabella has instructed me towelcome you to stay the night in the estate.
“You are the first to be called for a second interview, so naturally, you are the first to be invited forthe stay. We’ll ensure that none of your food gets drugged or poisoned lest you get diarrhea or thesort.”
Austin was struck speechless, but he went along with it.
They were just hiring a private chef. Did they have to make such a big deal out of it?
Austin now knew how influential his future wife was.
“You must be careful, Mr. York. Previously, an applicant was followed by his competition when heate out, who laced his food with laxatives and made him unable to attend his second interview,which is considered giving up.”novelbin
After another moment of speechlessness, Austin replied, “Thanks for the heads up. I’m currently atthe cafe on the ground floor and will head over to the lobby to wait in a bit.”
“Alright.” Dominic cautioned Austin about a few more things before hanging up.
Once Dominic hung up, Austin said to the Abbots, “Mr. and Ms. Abbot, I have to go back to myroom to get something, so I’ll make a move first. Coffee’s on me.”
“Thank you, Mr. York. See you, then.”
Weston did not insist on paying the bill. Perhaps because he knew he had lost, he was in a badmood.
Austin took his leave.
Once Austin was gone, Jovanne comforted her father. “Dad, Mr. York was very guarded, so what hesaid might not be trustworthy. Let’s wait a little longer. I’m sure they’ll call us back for the secondinterview.
“You’ve definitely been in this field longer than Mr. York has. He’s so young, too—he looks like he’sonly a few years older than I am and you know my skill level. No matter how good he is, he can’t bethat good.

Weston took a bite of a pastry and said, “He’s the worst at making treats but still managed to get acallback, which means he’s a very capable chef.

Jovanne took two sips of her coffee before saying, “No matter how talented he is, he’s young. Howmany cuisines could he have tried? How many dishes does he actually know how to make?
“Even if he manages to get in this time, how long can he last? Everyone knows how picky of aneater Ms. Isabella is. She doesn’t just want something different every day, she also needs it to beperfect in every way.

Weston was silent, and then he said, “If I still don’t get it this time, I’ll give up and accept reality.
