“You’re hiring a chef, not looking for a husband, so that doesn’t matter,” Tati tittered.
“All that matters is that his cooking is delicious enough for you to eat them and not get bored.”
Isabella did not think much of Austin. She had not even met him yet, anyway.novelbin
She was only astonished that Austin was from Wiltspoon as it was very far from Satbury.
“I wish I had a chef whose cooking I didn’t get bored of too, and didn’t have to change my chef sooften.”
Isabella tapped her own mouth mockingly. “I don’t know why I have such a picky mouth either.”
“Do you want more?” Tati asked when she saw Isabella had stopped eating.
“I’m not hungry anymore, so no.” Isabella took a look at the time and said, “I have a meeting that’sabout to start. Come with me.”
“Alright.” Tati took the box from Isabella. “If you’re not eating the rest, I’ll finish them. I think they’repretty yummy. This Austin York probably has some skill. He says he’s not very good at makingtreats, but you ate quite a few of them.”
“I was hungry.”
“You wouldn’t mistreat your mouth and stomach like that. If they weren’t good, you wouldn’t haveeaten them no matter how hungry you were.”
Isabella smiled but stayed silent.
That was true.
Although the treats had been a bit dry, they tasted pretty good.
She was suddenly looking forward to trying Austin’s cooking.
After a moment of thought, Isabella called Dominic, their butler, and said, “Call the chef who appliedtoday to come back for another interview tomorrow afternoon. I’ll be back for dinner tomorrow night.Prepare everything he needs, but he has to make everything himself.
“Watch him and make sure he doesn’t cheat.”
Dominic said respectfully, “I’ll call Mr. York back right away. Don’t worry, Ms. Isabella. I watch everyapplicant carefully. They don’t even get the chance to cheat. And there’s no point in cheating. Oncethey start working and if they make food that isn’t to your taste, they’ll get fired all the same.”
Isabella left the office for the meeting with Tati after hanging up.
On the other end, Dominic immediately called Austin after Isabella hung up. Austin picked up rightaway. “Congratulations, Mr. York. Ms. Isabella has asked you to come back for another interviewtomorrow afternoon.”
Austin’s anxiety eased and he thanked Dominic.
“Ms. Isabella said that she’ll be back for dinner tomorrow night. What are you thinking of makingand what do you need? You can list it for me and I’ll get someone to buy it in advance for you.
“The ingredients have to be fresh. Ms. Isabella is particularly picky. She can tell right away if it’s notfresh.”
Austin asked, “Could I get your number, then? I’ll make a list of everything I need and send it to youso you can prepare them tomorrow.”
“Sure. You can save this—it’s my personal number.”
“Alright.”
After the call ended, Austin texted Dominic to say he would send the menu and the ingredient listneeded for tomorrow later on.
Dominic replied with an “OK” emoji.
Austin was staying in a hotel for now. After sending the message, he got up to make himself a cupof tea.
