Chapter 3110

Caroline looked out to the streets the moment she got to her office.

After confirming that her adoptive mother and brothers had left, only then did she turn around andsit behind her table.

She first sent a message to Darren, telling him not to do anything when Belinda left for her trip.

Liberty’s word of caution made Caroline realize that she had almost fallen into her mother’s trap.novelbin

Usually, her mother would never tell the family about her destination or itinerary.

The last time Belinda went to Wiltspoon, Caroline was tasked to manage the company. However, that was because everyone knew about the invitation from the Yorks.

The fact that Belinda was going to attend Zachary’s wedding was publicly known. Since there wasno need to hide it, Belinda had handed over some work to Caroline before she left.

However, this time, Belinda revealed to Caroline that she was leaving to meet an old acquaintance.Caroline simply thought she had gained her mother’s trust.

Belinda had also mentioned that Caroline, her only daughter, was the only one she could trust aftereverything that had happened in the family.

Caroline truly thought Belinda had complete trust in her.

Therefore, Belinda’s suspicious and calculating nature slipped her mind. How could she havebelieved her mother so easily?

Even some secrets were not shared between mothers and daughters.

After sending the message, Caroline put down her phone and took her mug. She went to the pantryand started brewing herself coffee.

She did not sleep well last night.

The cup of coffee she had with Liberty earlier was not enough.

She needed another to stay alert and work.

There was a meeting later and another lunch appointment afterward.

Caroline’s schedule was packed to the brim.

She could only take a breather whenever Belinda came to work. Otherwise, she had to handle thebulk of the business.

Some of the company’s experienced employees still had reservations about her. They wouldoccasionally create trouble and hinder her progress. To Caroline, every day at work was like beingat war. She had to be constantly cautious of traps and betrayals.

Right then, her office phone rang.

Caroline walked out of the pantry and put the call on speaker.

“Mr. Clark wishes to see you, Ms. Caroline.”

The Mr. Clark in question was Adrian.

Caroline’s eyes gleamed.

It seemed like Adrian was in the mood to work after Celine’s death and Emma’s request for adivorce.

“Let him in.”

Caroline ended the call and returned to the pantry after speaking.

Soon, Adrian entered her office.

He still had a few bruises on his face.

His stubble made him look haggard despite being dressed in a suit and the dark under-eye circlesshowed that he was severely sleep-deprived.

Adrian started yelling when he did not see Caroline in the office, “Carol, Carol, where are you?”

“I’m brewing some coffee at the pantry. Do you want some?”

“Sure. You could’ve let the secretary do it.”

Adrian glanced at the pantry before sitting on the sofa.
