Chapter 2757

Duncan said, “It was a last-minute decision, so Sonny doesn’t know. His friend was visiting. He’s

having so much fun that he forgets that I exist. There’s no way he’ll care about where I go.”

Liberty smiled. “He doesn’t even miss me that much, let alone you.”

“Sonny is close to Serenity. That’s why you can leave so easily.”

“You’re right. Seren has been helping me take care of Sonny since he was born. She was the one who

cared for me and Sonny during my postpartum. Sonny’s father had to work. He only took a few days'

leave when I gave birth in the hospital. As for my former in-laws, they disappeared after visiting Sonny

in the hospital.

“They were even urging me to try for a second baby before my divorce. It was lucky that I got a divorce.

Otherwise, my whole life would’ve been ruined by that family.”

Liberty pushed Duncan into the elevator.novelbin

When they reached the third floor, she picked a private room and helped Duncan to sit on a chair. She

asked, “What do you want to eat?”

“You make the call. I’m not picky. Anything is fine.”

Liberty invited the bodyguards to sit too. She scanned the QR code on the wall for the menu and

ordered a few dishes according to Duncan’s tastes. Then, she asked the bodyguards, “Do you all want

some wine?

“I can drive Duncan around if he wants to go somewhere. You all can drink without worrying about

driving later.”

Duncan’s bodyguard said, “We don’t drink, Ms. Hunt. You don’t have to order any wine.”

Duncan did not drink either.

Liberty, Jim, and a few others had already eaten. They were just there to accompany Duncan to eat

and would only take a few bites at most. “We’ll skip the wine then.”

She finished ordering in no time.

Duncan, who sat beside her, went closer to her and said, “Actually, I’m thankful for Hank’s ignorance.”

He chuckled when Liberty glared at him. “If he had realized the value of what he had, I wouldn’t have

stood a chance.”

After speaking, he held her hand with an affectionate gaze. “Will you marry me after I recover? I

promise that I’ll only love you forever. I don’t care if other people can't keep this promise. I can

definitely do it.

“My family and I won’t rush you into having babies. You’re in your early thirties, and we don’t know how

long it’ll take for me to recover. It’ll be risky if you get pregnant at an older age. I can’t bear seeing you

suffer during pregnancy. Having Sonny is enough.”

Liberty withdrew her hand as she blushed. Then, she slapped Duncan’s arm lightly and whispered,

“There are others here. Why did you say that?”

Duncan glanced at the bodyguards. Jim and the rest were absorbed in their own conversation and

were not paying attention to the couple.

He lowered his voice, “They won’t try to eavesdrop on our conversation. They can’t hear me when I’m

talking this softly anyway.

“Liberty, I spoke from the heart. I’ve said that I don’t mind being Sonny’s stepfather. I’ll still be a fatherly

figure to him. He’ll be filial to me if I raise him. I believe Sonny is a grateful child.”

Duncan dared not imagine what kind of person Sonny would be after being raised by the Browns if

Hank had been granted custody of the child but he would grow up to be a decent human being with

Liberty raising him.

“We can talk about this later. Even if I’m prepared to get married now, you’re unwilling to marry me

anyway.”

Duncan smiled. “I’ll definitely propose to you once I’ve recovered. I’ll persevere with my rehab to marry

you as soon as possible. I won’t ever disagree on anything with you or overthink in the future.”

After a pause, he laughed and mocked himself. “I used to criticize Zachary in my head back when he

fell out with Serenity. I felt he had become petty ever since he got married. He would get upset over

minor issues and not speak to her. Once they weren’t on speaking terms, he liked to call me and Josh

out for a drink.

“I never thought it would happen to me one day. I’ve become as petty as him. I got angry when it wasn’t

even your fault. I’m sorry for that day, Liberty.”
