Chapter 2735

“Honey, have some water.”

Zachary followed her back to the bed, picked up the cup of water, and handed it to her. Serenity took

only a couple of sips and declined for more.

“I’m just moistening my throat, I won’t drink too much to avoid frequent trips to the bathroom. By the

way, who called you just now?”

Zachary calmly lied, “Josh couldn’t sleep and called to bother me in the middle of the night. I scolded

him, and it was just his way of retaliating. I used to often interrupt his sweet dreams.”

Looking at him, Serenity said, “Babe, I knew when you answered the call, but I was too tired to get up.

Although I didn’t hear what you said clearly, I’m sure it wasn’t Josh who called.

“You’re lying to me, probably just to spare me from worry. The call was from Kevin, right?”

The one who could make her worry was her sister.

Zachary held her. “Everyone says that pregnancy makes one a bit absent-minded, but my wife is still as

sharp as ever.”

“What did Kevin say? Is something wrong with my sister?”

“Liberty is fine. It’s the Fisher family that ran into trouble. Your sister went to a banquet at Fisher Manor

tonight, and there was a major scandal. They left the Fisher Manor quickly, and now they’re resting at

the hotel. You don’t need to worry.

“With Kev and Hayden there, nothing will happen to Liberty. We have people arranged to protect her,

and both Duncan and your aunt are keeping an eye on her. Don’t worry, Liberty is just trying to win over

the members of the Fisher family and build a business empire in Jensburg. It would only take some

time.”

The investment for Liberty naturally came from the Yorks, Lewises, and Stones.

In fact, Liberty was merely the individual responsible for managing surface-level affairs. The true

bosses were the three prominent families in Wiltspoon.

It was mainly because Audrey wanted to encourage her niece to compete with Caroline for the

matriarch position of the Fisher family.

“What happened at Fisher Manor?”

Serenity asked, “Is Liberty really alright?”

Her sister did bring bodyguards with her, but she did not know a lick of self-defense.

When Liberty was at the prime age for martial arts training, their family was still scraping by. Her

parents did not have the means to enroll her in a martial arts school. By the time their family amassed

enough wealth to keep afloat, Liberty’s optimal age for learning martial arts had already passed.

Starting martial arts relatively late in her life, Serenity acquired some basic self-defense skills that

proved effective against petty troublemakers. However, when facing skilled opponents, she was always

three steps behind.

Regardless of her skills, with a few moves in her arsenal, she felt more confident in the face of danger.

At least she could put up a fight and even gain the upper hand when faced with thugs.novelbin

In terms of fighting ability, she thought herself better than Liberty.

“She’s alright. Even if she isn’t, do you think I could hide it from you? She’s your sister, if something

happened to her and I kept it from you, wouldn’t you be super upset if you found out later?”

Zachary embraced her. “I’m telling the truth, honey. Liberty is alright, you can sleep without worrying. I

don’t even dare to keep anything from you now. I’m afraid you’ll be upset with me.”

Hiding his identity while rushing into a marriage with her caused quite a stir when she later discovered

the truth. Zachary still shuddered at the memory of how intense the fallout was.

He was extremely afraid that she would leave him.
