Chapter 2688

The Newman couple was strict with Trenton and trained him to be independent at a young age

because they wanted him to succeed them.

How could a successor take over the family if they could not stand their ground and be independent?

However, they kept it subtle because Trenton was still young then. Now that he had grown up and

Carrie kept stirring trouble after getting out of prison, their parents agreed to transfer all their assets to

him to protect them.

Trenton also promised to ensure Carrie’s life essentials were covered. He would stop giving her

allowance once she could earn money to sustain herself. However, if she were to get married, he would

give her a large sum of money and luxurious presents to send her off.

He also made it clear that Camryn would not take anything—she only wanted justice.

“Mom and Dad won’t agree to this. They wouldn’t. You should stop dreaming.”

Carrie knew her parents had already agreed to the plan. She was simply in denial.

She refused to believe that her parents did not choose her, the child they loved most, and picked

Trenton instead.

Was it because Trenton was a boy?

It turned out that her parents’ love for her could not transcend gender inequality.

They must have never thought of handing the family assets to her.

Carrie could not accept the truth.

Her parents had mentioned that they did not prefer boys over girls.

Carrie had obtained anything she wanted all her life whereas Trenton had to work for it. Sometimes, he

could not even get anything.novelbin

Carrie had always thought her parents favored her by a mile.

They would never love Camryn as Mom only wanted Camryn dead while their treatment toward

Trenton was lukewarm; she was the one they loved the most.

Trenton witnessed as Carrie fell into despair. He pressed his lips together before he said, “You’re still

young. Only in your early twenties. You should get a job and rely on yourself. No matter how capable

our parents are, they can’t support us forever.

“Look at how things are now. How can they provide for us? We have to be independent. It’s better to

rely on ourselves than on others. You can look for a job and do well…”

“Are you asking me to get a job, Trenton? I am Ms. Newman, and you expect me to work? I’m an elite

lady. I have money. Why do I have to look for a job?”

What job could she even apply for?

She had no work experience.

As for education, she did not graduate from university. She did not want to study, and her parents

simply let her stay unemployed.

She had no skills except for spending money.

“Trenton, tell Camryn to reactivate my card. If you still treat me as your sister, tell her that.”

She would have money to spend once her card was reactivated. She would not have to go to work.

How much money could one earn through working anyway?

Her aunts were only earning a couple of grand a month as cleaners. It was a dirty job that did not pay

well. She would never work even if someone threatened her.
