Everyone held their breath upon seeing Hunter’s state. Belinda sat on the sofa with a cigarette in hand.
She did not even spare Hunter a glance despite his sobs.

Adrian crept to his wife’s side and asked softly, “What happened to Dad? Who beat him up?”
Emma replied, “Mom did.”
After a pause, she turned to look at Adrian. There was a hint of glee in her whisper. “Dad cheated on
Mom and got caught red-handed. The woman was beaten up too.”
Adrian’s expression changed upon hearing those words.
He was reminded of his own affair. Although his parents had known about it and chose to turn a blind
eye, Hunter’s affair was a grave issue. It would affect him and his brothers, who had committed the
same mistake.
Adrian kept quiet as he stood beside Emma.
“Mom.”
Caroline broke the silence.
She glanced at Hunter whose handsome face was unrecognizable before setting her eyes on the
frowning Belinda. She said, “Why did you summon us back, Mom? What happened to Dad?
“Who hit him? Did he get into a fight?”
Meanwhile, Caroline’s sisters-in-law gave Hunter a mocking glance and pinched their husbands’
waists. The men felt the pain, yet they had no choice but to suffer in silence.
“I made a mistake, Caroline, but I’m reflecting on it. Can you help me to beg your mom for mercy? I
promise I won’t do it again.”
Hunter asked for Caroline’s help the moment she voiced out.
Caroline said, “What was your mistake, Dad? I need to know before deciding if I should help you. Did
you get into a fight? I don’t want to nag at you, Dad, but you’re old and no longer youthful. Why did you
act on impulse and fight someone?
“Even if you had won, we’d have to pay for that person’s medical fees. If you lost, we’d have to pay for
your treatment instead. There’s no benefit to it at all. Seeing your miserable state, you must’ve lost.”
Caroline acted oblivious to Hunter’s affair. She had just returned to the family anyway, so being
clueless came naturally.
On the other hand, Celine was quiet.
Hunter had often asked her for money recently. Since Caroline had suspended her bank card and the
credit card Mom gave her, she had no choice but to spend her savings. Even the considerable sum she
gave Hunter came from her savings.
She had done it out of filial piety to her father. Little did she expect him to act like her brothers, fooling
around with other women once he had money and even got caught in the act by Mom.
Since Hunter was in trouble, Celine would not fare any better because part of the money he used to
cheat on Mom came from her.
At that moment, Emma said, “Mom caught Dad cheating on her, Carol. She was the one who beat Dad
up.”
Caroline looked toward Hunter in shock. “How could you?”
