Chapter 2623

Serenity teased Elisa with a smile. “Elisa, you love children so much. Hurry up and have one with

Remy.”

Elisa kissed her nephew and said, “Once Remy and I are married, we’ll start a family right away. After

having a baby and achieving this milestone, we can focus on running our business.”

“I thought you would wait a couple of years after marriage to have a child and enjoy some private time

together,” replied Alice.

“I initially had that plan too, but I changed my mind. Considering Remy’s age and mine, if we get

married next year, it’s better to start our family planning sooner. I’ll be thirty by the time I have a child.”

Elisa was a year older than Serenity.

“I used to not like kids, but ever since I met Sonny, I’ve started to like them. Now I like them evennovelbin

more.”

“A little baby like my nephew is so easy to take care of. He eats and sleeps, and hardly cries. Alice,

with such an obedient child, it’s fine to have a couple more. Our family can afford it.”

Serenity laughed. “Alice is still in her postpartum confinement and you’re talking about having a second

child or even a third. If Clive hears about it, he’ll definitely scold you.”

Alice experienced severe morning sickness during her pregnancy and Clive even considered having

Alice terminate the pregnancy.

The couple had agreed to have only one child.

Elisa looked toward the door to confirm that Clive had not come in. She said, “I was simply saying. I

didn’t think before speaking. Alice, don’t take it to heart.”

Alice endured hardships during her pregnancy, and Elisa felt sorry for her.

“Just one child is enough. When Anthony gets married, and they have a daughter, I’ll have a nephew

and a niece.”

Alice said, “During my pregnancy, I experienced severe nausea. Initially, I had planned to have only

one baby, but seeing how adorable my little one is, the pain of pregnancy is now a distant memory. I'm

considering convincing your brother to have a second child, but that's a decision for the future.

“Even so, I might not be able to persuade Clive. He said that if I wanted to have a second child, he

would undergo a vasectomy to crush my hopes. He often says that the number of children doesn't

matter; as long as we nurture them well, one child can be equivalent to several.

“On the flip side, if we don’t give our children proper parenting, having more kids is bound to be a

burden instead.

“For now, I’m satisfied with what I have.”

Clive, the eldest son of the Stone family and the current head of the family, had expressed his desire to

have only one child. In response, Alice's family hoped she could give birth to a son, ensuring clear

succession rights. Although a girl could be the heir, Alice's mother said that having a daughter would

complicate things. If the daughter turned out to be like Elisa, the future of Stone Group would be

uncertain.

For a business so prominent as Stone Group, selecting the right successor is crucial.

Alice knew that her family was relieved after her son was born. She felt that her place in the Stone

family was cemented.

Despite her seemingly comfortable life in the Stone family, there was gossip floating around due to her

not having children for several years after marrying into the family.

Seeing that Serenity was unable to conceive after one year of marriage, one could only imagine how

much stress she was under.

Ring, ring…

Serenity’s phone rang.

It was her sister.

She promptly picked up the phone.

“Hey, Liberty.”

“Seren, are you and Zachary free?”

Serenity replied, “Yes. In fact, we’re so free that it has started to become boring.”

She asked Zachary to return to work, but he insisted that his marital leave had not ended and refused

to go back to the office.

He argued that Josh had two months of marital leave. No matter what, he wanted to enjoy a full month

away from work.
