Chapter 2455

Zachary chuckled and said, “Don’t worry, my dear. I absolutely won’t engage in illegal activities like

murder or arson. York Corporation conducts lawful and legitimate business. Even if someone is my

adversary, I only compete with them through business and slowly lead them to defeat.

“If the opponent is formidable, it might take me years to bring them down. Look at me and your cousin, novelbin

we were arch-rivals for years, but I couldn’t take down Stone Group, and likewise, Stone Group

couldn’t defeat York Corporation.

“The ability to bankrupt someone within the blink of an eye? Well, I do not possess that kind of skill.”

Zachary admitted he was not as formidable as the male protagonists in novels who could bankrupt

companies in an instant. Dealing with his enemies required a long process.

“If you decide to take matters into your own hands, I will not interfere. I don’t have the energy to deal

with such matters right now, but I trust you!”

With her head resting on Zachary’s shoulder for just a couple of minutes, Serenity sat up again and

took another look at the news about Jenna. She said, “After you reported to Edwin last time, he should

have returned from overseas by now.

“By right, she should have given up and admitted her mistake to her father. After all, they share the

same blood and she is the only child Edwin has. They shouldn’t be in such a state. Did Jenna do

something behind the scenes that you’ve kept from me?”

Zachary replied, “It’s not a big deal. It’s just the substitute that she found. He was after the Daniels

family’s wealth and, after finally climbing the ranks, he couldn’t be easily dismissed. Because of him,

Jenna had a disagreement with her father.

“Their conflict started this way, and if you factor in Alvin fanning the flames, the rift between Jenna and

Edwin got wider. She and her mother both blamed him. They believed he intended to pass on the

family fortune and the company to his nephew.

“As the two of them keep making a fuss, Edwin becomes even more disappointed in his daughter. I’m

sure Alvin has more tricks up his sleeve. There’s no doubt that in the end, he will surely rise to power

and she will be the one who ruined her own future.”

Zachary could not squeeze an ounce of sympathy for her in this matter.

Jenna knew very well he and Serenity were married, yet she had the audacity to pursue Zachary. She

even came knocking at his door, thinking that she could share him with Serenity. Did she think of him

as someone who can be shared?

Zachary could not be bothered dealing with this kind of person. Instead, he let Edwin handle it.

Edwin surely loved his daughter, but he valued Daniels Group more. He would not allow his daughter to

ruin the company.

All that Jenna could hope to attain in the future would only be a small stake in Daniels Group and a

position with limited authority within the company. He might offer her a house, a shop, and some

savings. Granting Jenna control of the Daniels Group was something she could only dream of.

Even in terms of the company’s share, he would at most only give her a small portion, just to ensure

her financial security.

“There are a lot of internal conflicts in wealthy families. Honey, I still prefer the atmosphere in your

family, it's so much more harmonious. All of you get along so well.”

Zachary embraced her, letting her lean against him again. He chuckled and said, “My family is your

family too. As Nana says, a harmonious family brings prosperity in all endeavors; only when the family

is harmonious can everything prosper.”

Serenity nodded.

It was easier said than done. There were not many large families that could genuinely achieve this.

It was Grandma May who had been the glue holding the family together. She had also trained and

educated her grandchildren well, emphasizing the importance of marrying someone virtuous.

As there was a saying, a virtuous wife brought blessings.

If all the grandchildren carried on the same mindset, the blessings could be passed on, allowing the

Yorks to continue thriving.

“Hey, Hayden. Can you slow down for a bit? I can hardly keep up with your pace.”

Kevin’s voice suddenly reached their ears.

Both of them looked around from where the voice came from and saw Kevin chasing after Hayden.

The absence of a wrapper suggested that the flowers in Kevin’s hand were probably freshly picked.

Hayden came to a halt and turned to Kevin saying, “Can you please shut up? I was just going for a

walk and you kept chattering in my ear. How old are you? You nag more than my mom and dad.”
