Chapter 2453

Serenity followed them out of the house. She shouted after Sonny’s shrinking silhouette, “Sonny, don’t

run so fast. Be careful not to fall.”

“Aunt Ser, I won’t fall. I’ll go now.”

Carrying a large bag of toys, Sonny ran off with a group of kids.

Their voices echoed back from a distance.

Serenity turned to Zachary, who had followed her outside, and said, “This kid is so outgoing. He gets

along with everyone.”

“Isn’t that a good thing? If he couldn’t and clung to adults all the time, we’d all have headaches.”

Zachary replied with a smile, “It’s quite challenging being human, and kids do not have it easy either.

They get criticized as mischievous for being lively. If they are quiet and reserved, they are called dull.

No matter what they do, adults can always find a reason to criticize them.”

Serenity was silent.

It seemed like it was true.

Being human was quite challenging.

“Do you still need to catch up on sleep?” Serenity questioned.

As soon as Zachary held Serenity’s hand, he led her outside and smiled as they walked. “I’m not

Hypnos. I’ve had enough sleep. If I sleep now, I won’t be able to sleep at night.

“Do you need some rest?”

Serenity replied, “I’ll take a short nap later. I just had lunch, and it would be uncomfortable to sleep right

away.”

“Great. I’ll accompany you for a walk. It could help with digestion, and we can take a nap later.”

Serenity naturally agreed.

She went searching for the children, who were all playing at the playground. The bag of toys Sonny

brought was left aside.

The couple did not approach the kids as they did not want to spoil the fun the kids were having.

If they had gone over, the workers’ kids would have to behave, and they would not have as much fun.novelbin

“Let’s go sit at the pavilion and take in the breeze. The weather’s nice today. Neither is the sun

scorching nor the sky gloomy. Plus, it’s cool and windy.”

With his beloved wife’s hand in tow, Zachary walked to the nearby pavilion and sat down.

As she sat down, Serenity took her phone out. She checked her socials, then proceeded to check the

news.

“Go easy on your screen time, it’s bad for your eyes.”

“I’m just scrolling 'cause I’m bored, I won’t take long,” Serenity said as she continued scrolling,

checking trending news.

As she scrolled to the very bottom of the trending page, she saw a headline highlighting Jenna Daniels.

Serenity had almost forgotten about Jenna, who was once her love rival.

After seeing her name in the headlines of the latest trending news, Serenity clicked on the news out of

curiosity.

[Being able to collaborate with York Corporation, the Daniels Group was a conglomerate of

considerable status and ability. They were an influential group in their city, which explained the

narrative surrounding Jenna and her cousin Alvin’s rivalry for the CEO position had become the talk of

the town.]

The news article was not particularly lengthy. It only mentioned the successor of the Daniels group was

currently unclear. While Jenna currently served as Mr. Daniels’s secretary, she was also his only

daughter. She took on the role of secretary to learn the ropes, under the tutelage of her father.
