Chapter 2437
When Liberty brought the bottle of water out, she saw Duncan falling and getting up from afar. Duncan
was still practicing his walking. She stopped and watched him hang on. She did not get close to him so
as not to put pressure on him.
She had seen him at his worst. However, nobody liked to be seen at their worst.
Duncan had his pride.
Once Duncan was tired, he wanted to get back to his wheelchair but was too exhausted to get up.
Since there was no one around, Duncan crawled back to his wheelchair and propped himself back onto
it. After he had done all that, he caught his breath.
Liberty immediately hid behind a tree when Duncan looked around. She did not want Duncan to know
that she was there.
It pained Liberty to see Duncan crawl and climb back to the wheelchair.
She had something to do with what happened to him.
Duncan was determined to pursue her, and he did not want to give up on her. He went against his
mother’s wishes and got into a car accident.
It was all because of her.
A member of the Lewis family, Duncan was born with a silver spoon. He was meant for great things,
but he had become paralyzed because of her. Liberty felt bad and blamed herself.
It was not her fault that Duncan was romantically interested in her, but Duncan did get into an accident
because of her.
Although what happened to Duncan was an unfortunate accident, Liberty could not shake her guilt.
Liberty teared up. A while later, she dried her tears and calmed herself before approaching Duncan
with the water like nothing ever happened.
“Mr. Lewis.”
While walking, Liberty said, “It took me a while to find a water bottle. Sorry to keep you waiting.”
She got nearer to Duncan and handed the bottle over. “Here you go.”
Seeing that Duncan was covered in sweat, Liberty fished a pack of tissues out of her pocket. As a
mother, she always had tissues ready for Sonny. It was convenient to carry around.
“Did you walk back and sit on the wheelchair yourself, Mr. Lewis? You’re amazing,” Liberty praised as
she wiped away Duncan’s sweat.novelbin
Duncan blushed.
He had been spending time outside lately, sometimes to practice walking. Although he always picked a
shaded area, the sun always gave him a tan.
His tanned face masked his red face.
He was not blushing because of Liberty’s compliments but rather Liberty’s incredibly close proximity
when she helped with wiping his perspiration. It made him feel shy.
His heart raced.
Liberty was kind and considerate to him. He wondered if Liberty could accept his feelings now that she
was able to be intimate enough to wipe away his sweat.
Duncan looked down at his legs, dejected. He could not stand up and walk like he used to. Even if
Liberty was ready to take their relationship to the next level, he did not want to be a burden to her.
Once he was all better, he must propose to Liberty.
Duncan gave himself a year. A year was not too long. He could not possibly let Liberty wait for him for
too many years as it was her youth at stake. Although Liberty said she did not want to remarry, those
who cared about her wanted her to have a fresh start.
He had gotten the approvals of Grandma May, Mrs. Stone, and Serenity.
With that in mind, Duncan refound his confidence.
