Chapter 2427
Serenity quickly said, “I know. The pain I felt was when I hadn’t known I was pregnant and was out and
about running errands. I was shocked when I found out about the baby.”
She dared not tell Zachary about it at that time because he would be worried.
Zachary had planned on taking her on a drive because her pregnancy prevented her from going
overseas. Considering that a drive would also be tiring, she decided to inform him of her past
discomfort.
Zachary was relieved to hear that the pain was from before and not now.
She had indeed reduced her workload after discovering she was pregnant and stopped making trips
with Elisa.
Working in the office would not tire Serenity out. After all, she was physically fit from the martial arts
classes she had taken. She grew up in a harsh environment too.
Zachary wanted to persuade her to stay home even after her marriage leave ended but knew she
would not agree. Besides, her first trimester would almost be over by then, and the pregnancy would be
more stable. There would not be huge implications as long as she did not travel from place to place as
she had done previously.
In the end, he kept quiet to prevent a fight from occurring on their wedding day.
He believed that Serenity would never put their baby at risk or force herself to do something if she
could not handle it. Hence, he let her run some simple errands.
For instance, she could watch over the bookstore with Jasmine or go through documents at the office
and delegate tasks to her employees. It would make her days more fulfilling and put her in a good
mood, benefitting the fetus’s development.
“Babe, you should go entertain our guests. I’ll take a short nap. Don’t wake me up if I’m asleep when
you return. If I’m awake, I’ll message you to bring some food to me.”
“Alright, love,” Zachary replied affectionately before kissing her forehead again.
Serenity slept soon after. Zachary knew she must have been dog-tired as she had fallen asleep within
five minutes.
Ever since she was pregnant, she had been feeling lethargic. If no one interrupted her sleep, she could
stay in bed for an entire day without taking any meals.
The wedding truly wore her out.
Zachary placed his palm on her still-flat belly. He could not feel any fetal movement as it was still too
soon for that, not until two or three months later.
He placed a kiss on Serenity’s belly and murmured, “Hey Lil’ Bun, be good and stop torturing your
mom. Let her have a good night’s rest alright?”
A few minutes later, Zachary stood and tiptoed out of the room.
The wedding guests discovered Serenity’s pregnancy as she did not take a sip of alcohol throughout
the reception and figured Zachary brought the wedding forward because of it.
Those who used to mock Serenity for being infertile and were looking forward to seeing her being
chased out of the York family must have been disappointed.
Serenity was not only fertile, but she had also gotten pregnant.
No one dared to prank the newlyweds for fear something would happen to the fetus. They simply could
not bear that responsibility.
When the guests saw Zachary taking Serenity to the room and coming out again by himself, they knew
she had gone to rest. However, no one commented on it.
It was natural for pregnant women to feel fatigued easily.
Although Zachary returned to meet the guests, he did not stay long. When night fell, he went back to
the room and fell asleep beside Serenity.novelbin
He had left the job of hosting the guests to his brothers and cousins.
At the end of the day, his brothers, the groomsmen, and the bridesmaids were so drunk they required
support to walk.
