Chapter 2414

Since Sonny was in the room with the bridesmaids, Elisa decided to put Sonny as the first line of

defense. She told Sonny, “Zachary will be up soon. Sit outside the door and stop Zachary from coming

in, okay?”

Sonny did not get it.

He lifted his face and asked, “Uncle Zak is here to pick Aunt Ser up. Why can’t he take Aunt Ser to the

ceremony? I want to see Aunt Ser walk down the aisle.”

He could not be the page boy and ring bearer if Zachary did not take Serenity to the wedding

ceremony.

Elisa explained, “Zachary can take Serenity to the wedding, but we can’t make it easy for him. We

should let him go through some hoops to get to Serenity to make sure he will cherish and be nice to

her.”

“But Uncle Zak is good to Aunt Ser. Why must we make things difficult for Uncle Zak?”

Elisa was speechless.

She slapped her hand to her forehead and said to Serenity, “Why don’t you talk to Sonny, Seren? He

doesn’t need to do anything. He can just sit outside the door and stop Zachary from passing unless he

pays a fee.”

“Oh, I can let him through if he pays a fee? I can do it.”

Before Serenity had a chance to say anything, Sonny volunteered himself for the job.

He loved to pretend he was a toll booth operator, asking for payment from anybody who wanted to

pass through.

Zachary was always good to him. Sonny was sure Zachary would be generous to pay up.

Everybody burst into laughter.

Elisa gave Sonny a squeeze on the cheek and said with a smile, “Go wait outside for Zachary, my little

toll booth operator. You should make him sing a romantic song too, and we want to hear it from the

room. If you think he has done a good job, you can open the door and let him in.”

Sonny had no idea what a romantic song was. All he knew was that he had to collect a fee for Zachary

to pass through.

He remembered everything Elisa said, but he did not understand what she was talking about. Still, he

bobbed his head and asked, “Aunt Elisa, can I go out to collect the fee now?”

“Sure. Go on.”

Sonny turned around and ran to the door. He sat down and waited for Zachary to come upstairs so that

he could carry out his task.

Soon, Zachary arrived on the second floor together with his groomsmen.

The group of men cautiously ascended the stairs, aware that the bridesmaids had planned to put themnovelbin

through a series of challenges before they could together proceed to the wedding ceremony.

They had unobstructed access so far.

Julian, one of the groomsmen, said with a smile, “I was expecting the bridesmaids to put you through

hell before you can get to your bride. I guess they wouldn’t do that to you.”

Zachary smiled. “Seren and Liberty are good to me.”

Nobody would try anything with him.

The group saw Sonny sitting outside the door and stopped.

Everybody looked at Sonny.

The bridesmaids sent a three-year-old to guard the door.

“Sonny.”

Zachary beckoned Sonny over with a smile. “Come and give me a hug.”

Sonny stayed where he was and shouted, “I don’t want hugs. Pay the toll, or you can’t get through.”

Zachary pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket, but Julian quickly stopped him, “Don’t give the

money to Sonny all at once. He could ask for more and refuse you entry.”

He paid a tiny fee to Sonny.

Sonny took the money and cocked his head back to yell, “Aunt Elisa, Uncle Zak paid the toll charge.

Can you let him in?”

The door cracked open a little, and the bridesmaids peeked out. Elisa happily informed Sonny, “He

didn’t pay the fee enough.”
