Chapter 2383

After all, Wildridge Manor belonged to the Yorks; not just anyone can stay there.

Belinda stared at Caroline. If Caroline had been by her side all this while, she would have become

more outstanding than she was now. Heck, she could have been chosen by Old Mrs. York to be the

York family’s granddaughter-in-law.

“You’re still young. There’ll be many opportunities for you in the future. I’m old. I might not even go to

Wiltspoon anymore after this.”

Caroline smiled. “You’re right. Since you’re heading there to relax, why don’t you bring Dad along? He

can’t do much, but he can accompany you and make you happy.”

Belinda chided Caroline, “How can you talk about your father that way? No matter how incompetent,

he’s the reason you’re even born.”

Caroline pouted. “It’s a fact. You should’ve looked for a better man back then.”

“A capable man would’ve refused to be a live-in son-in-law for our family. It’s fine if you dislike the man

Hunter brought last time. I can introduce someone else to you. You can meet him and spend some time

with him. That man is honest and handsome.

“He’s as good-looking as your father was in his younger days. Your children will look better if you have

a better-looking spouse. Look, you and your siblings are all pretty and handsome.”

Belinda was most satisfied that her children were good-looking.

Caroline refused. “I’m busy now, Mom. Do I look like someone who has time to date? I’ll think about

getting married after my position is stable. I’m not even thirty yet. Getting married after hitting thirty

years of age isn’t too bad.”

“You shouldn’t get married late because giving birth would be difficult. I only had you after having three

sons. If you’re like me, you’ll have to try many times. Getting pregnant at an older age is tough.

“The best case scenario would be conceiving a daughter on your first try. That way, you’ll have a

successor, and the gender of your subsequent children won’t matter.”

Caroline said, “Medical technology is advanced now. I can utilize it to ensure my first child is a

daughter. Wait, I can even give birth to twin daughters, which is even better.”novelbin

Having two daughters was a safer option than having one. If the only daughter met with an accident,

there would be no successors.

Belinda was speechless.

After a short while, she said, “Okay. You should go on with your work.”

Caroline stood and announced, “Yes, I shall do just that.”

Belinda waved her hand to shoo Caroline away. One look at Caroline could easily get her furious. Her

daughter’s temper was completely different from hers.

In fact, it shared more similarities with her elder sister…

Belinda was suddenly reminded of her elder sister, the one who practically raised her. They used to

have the best relationship, but she had to kill her sister along with her brother-in-law’s family to obtain

status and power.

After Caroline left, Belinda leaned against her chair and looked at the ceiling. She blinked once and

iciness filled her gaze—it was every man for himself.

Why should her sister be the matriarch? She could hold the position too.

Who would not put themselves first?

Belinda did not regret her past cruel actions. There was no evidence pointing back to her as the culprit

anyway. Even if Caroline wanted to prove it, it would be impossible.

That girl was too kind.

In a world filled with deception, kindness would only serve a great disadvantage.

If it were not for Belinda’s old age, she would have wished to have more daughters, and the

incompetent daughter would be replaced right away.
