Chapter 2322

Belinda would be over the moon if Hayden became her son-in-law.

“Mom, Mr. Queen and I are friends. He told me not to fall in love with him and that he would never

accept me. If I were to like him as Celine did, I’d get hurt in the end.

“We’re better off as friends.”

Caroline had a crush on Hayden, experiencing that natural sense of admiration that came with meeting

an outstanding individual. Though after Hayden expressed his thoughts honestly, her admiration did not

go beyond that.

Belinda was silent for a moment before giving a hum. She said, “Mr. Queen doesn’t suit our family. It’s

better if you two stay as friends.”

Befriending Hayden would benefit Caroline as well.

“Did you have someone you liked before you returned to this family?”

She was concerned about her daughter’s marriage. “Let me know if you have someone you fancy. You

can bring him back and let me meet him. I won’t object if he has a good character. Those who are

financially well-off won’t marry into our family. If he’s poor, we can offer his family money to cut ties with

their son. That way, we won’t have to worry about them taking advantage of us.

“Your grandparents’ financial situation was terrible. I’ve been supporting them all those years.

“The Fisher family is rich, but we can’t let them live off us. Anyway, you can neither choose someone

too good or too bad. An ordinary man will do.”

Caroline smiled and said, “I don’t have someone I like now. The only person I admire is Mr. Queen, but

nothing will ever happen between us.”

“Take your time. It’s indeed difficult for us to choose a partner.”

Belinda sighed before taking an envelope from her desk and tossing it before Caroline.

“What’s this, Mom?”

“Take a look yourself.”

Belinda’s expression turned stern, which made Caroline nervous. She suspected her mom had

discovered what she had been doing in secret.

Caroline opened the envelope and took the items out. They were receipts.

“What are these, Mom?”

“That should be my question to you. Why did you secretly go to Wiltspoon? You covered up your tracks

well too. Despite much effort, my assistant only managed to retrieve a couple of receipts. These are the

pieces of evidence proving you’ve spent time in Wiltspoon.”

Belinda looked serious, but she did not sound angry.

Caroline had covered her tracks so well that Belinda’s people could not even find out why she went to

Wiltspoon. It proved that Caroline was as capable as a woman of the Fisher family should.

Sure enough, she was the true daughter of the Fishers. Belinda had nurtured Celine personally, but

she still had to clean up after Celine.

“Did you visit Wiltspoon to verify something after hearing rumors?” Belinda asked.

She was aware of the rumors and that her family wanted to look for her two nieces who were innovelbin

Wiltspoon. After finding out about it, she put a stop to their plans. As for those who had already left

Jensburg for Wiltspoon, she got all of them back.

Caroline must have gone to Wiltspoon to investigate the truth too.

“Yes,” Caroline admitted. “I don’t believe you’re an evil person. I wanted to verify the rumors because I

suspected they were a scheme. However, I couldn’t find my aunt’s daughters. I don’t know what they

look like.”

Belinda’s assistant only collected several receipts proving Caroline had visited Wiltspoon and spent

money there.

Caroline admitted that but she could not tell Belinda that she already knew Audrey was her cousin.
