Chapter 2317

Darren ended the conversation there. Even though he had Caroline's trust, he knew that it was not his

place to interfere in her personal life.

Caroline's lack of interest in Hayden was all that mattered.

Darren dropped Caroline off at the Fishers’ residence. Seeing that Caroline was back, the housekeeper

came out of the house and welcomed her with a smile.

“Welcome back, Ms. Caroline.”

Caroline opened the car door and got out of the car. “Yeap,” she responded.

While walking to the main building, she asked, “Is my mom back yet?”

“Madam Fisher doesn’t have any engagement tonight. She came straight home after work,” the

housekeeper answered Caroline respectfully while walking alongside her.

Caroline knew that the housekeeper was putting on a show because that was what he did best. He

would be on his best behavior when her mother was home.

Behind Madam Fisher’s back, he was on Celine’s side.

Caroline said nothing and made a beeline for the residence.

She heard laughter the moment she stepped inside. Then silence took over abruptly when everybody

saw Caroline at the door. The smile on their faces froze.

Caroline carried on like nothing ever happened.

Her family was sitting in the living room with a strange man she had never met before. He checked her

out rudely and seemed happy with what he saw.

Caroline had an idea of what was going on.

Keeping her composure, she drew close and greeted her parents.

“You’re back, Caroline. Your mom said you had a business meeting tonight. I thought you’d only be

back late at night,” Hunter said.

Hunter was showering his daughter, Caroline, with fondness. He often did not have patience for her,

but tonight, he was pleasant.

After saying hello, Caroline went on to find a spot to sit.

“I came back after I was done with business. Do you prefer I go to business meetings until late?”novelbin

Hunter smiled. “I don’t bother with office work. Your mom always comes home late when she has

business meetings. Anyway, it’s good that you’re back. Let me introduce you to Marcus, the second

son of the Wright family from Jensburg.”

With a grin, Hunter introduced Caroline to Marcus.

Caroline sat still. She had no knowledge of the Wrights, so she doubted the family was rich or powerful

enough to belong in the upper crust.

Since Caroline was brought back to the family, she had attended countless social gatherings with her

mom. She had not seen Marcus at any of the events.

Marcus stood up and smiled ingratiatingly. He reached a hand out to Caroline.

“Ms. Caroline.”

“Mr. Wright.”

Caroline nodded but did not shake his hand.
