Chapter 2277

Darrell agreed. “This is a misunderstanding, Mr. Bucham. Mr. Julian must’ve had a reason for not

pursuing Elisa earnestly. Elisa already has a boyfriend anyway. Their relationship’s doing well.”

Walter smiled and said, “I have all the answers. Julian has been giving Elisa presents and flowers

behind our backs recently. He had even visited your house several times and fetched her from the

airport when she returned from her business trips.

“We didn’t know a thing because that boy hid it too well. We would’ve come over sooner if we had

known. Our families have been acquainted for decades, and we know everything about each other.

Don’t worry. We’ll treat Elisa like a daughter after she joins our family.”

Stacy chimed in, “That’s right. It’s good that our families are well acquainted. Since we don’t have a

daughter, we’ll dote on our daughter-in-law like our own. You don’t have to worry about Julian

mistreating Elisa. We’ll definitely be on her side.”

They could finally rest in peace if their son could become a normal man.

“But… My daughter already has a boyfriend. They are deeply in love with each other.”

Audrey was at a loss for words.

Julian did not fancy Elisa, but he was “pursuing” her. He picked her up from the airport whenever she

returned from her business trips, on top of giving her plenty of gifts.

“Didn’t you disdain Remy before? I heard you objected to him and Elisa being together because you

couldn’t bear for her to move to a faraway place. That’s understandable. She’s your only daughter.

Annenburg is pretty far from Wiltspoon. Meeting her will be difficult after she marries.

“Planning visits will be tough for both you and her. Besides, we won’t be able to know how our married

daughters are doing at their in-laws’. What if they’re living an unhappy life? We can’t support them if we

live far away.

“Therefore, we support you objecting to Remy and Elisa’s relationship.”

Audrey was yet again speechless.

Right then, Alice chimed in and defended Remy, “I think Remy won’t bully Elisa. He loves her too

much. Annenburg is a little far, but it’s still within the country.

“The Johnsons’ reputation is comparable to the Yorks’. Remy’s brother, Ben, is also well-known as a

doting husband. My mom often says that a family with good values raises excellent men. Dating a man

like Remy will bring her happiness.

“All this time, we couldn’t identify whether Mr. Julian’s feelings for Elisa were sincere. Mr. and Mrs.

Bucham, I think we should wait for Julian’s arrival and ask what he thinks of her.”

Walter and Stacy were too abrupt. They started talking about marriage as soon as they arrived.

Alice’s words rendered Walter speechless for a moment. It was true that the Johnson family was never

involved in scandals.

After a moment, Stacy said, “Although the Johnsons are great in-laws, they still live a distance away.novelbin

How can you bear your only daughter moving so far after marriage? It’s better to marry a Wiltspoonian

and visiting will be much simpler.

“Of course, transportation is more convenient now but Elisa still needs a two-hour flight or a long drive

to return from Annenburg. It can't compete with marrying a local man.

“Our house is so near to yours. Elisa could arrive at her family’s house after a ten-minute drive.”

Alice said with a smile, “The villa adjacent to ours belongs to Remy. He’ll be staying in Wiltspoon long-

term, so she won’t be leaving Wiltspoon even after marrying him. Since we live next to each other,

we’ve even heard her yelling from the top floor that she would be returning home for dinner.

Stacy was speechless and looked toward Audrey, aware that Audrey called the shots in the Stone

family.

After a moment of silence, Audrey said, “I have no opinions against Mr. Julian. However, he doesn’t

have any feelings for Elisa. While I wish she could marry a Wiltspoonian and not move away, she and

her partner should be in love with each other.

“Since both our families have no use for an arranged marriage, let’s respect our children’s wishes.”

Audrey did not want Elisa to marry a husband who lived far away. She wished her daughter could

remain in Wiltspoon, so she kept setting her up with men like Andrew and other talented gentlemen.

However, she had never considered Julian as a son-in-law candidate.
