Chapter 2275

Elisa gave a nod. “That sounds like my mom. She annoyed me to no end and the same went for Mr.

Reading. He didn’t know what my mom was up to, but he avoided me and my family like the plague

when he belatedly found out. I even heard he sold his villa so as not to live in the same neighborhood

as us.”

Elisa was helpless about the situation. She believed she did Andrew dirty by dragging him into the

matter for no good reason.

“Andrew is Zachary’s cousin. He didn’t want a part in Aunt Audrey’s plan, so he sought advice from

Zachary.”

Elisa could guess where this was going before Serenity could finish the story.

“Seren, did Zachary suggest to Andrew that Julian woo me?”

“Zachary had no say in telling Julian to pursue you. He told Andrew to ask Julian for help. Julian has an

illness, so anyone who isn’t his soulmate would only be looking at marriage without physical intimacy. If

Julian agreed to help Andrew divert Aunt Audrey’s attention, Andrew could walk away from this. One

more thing—Aunt Audrey would have to choose between Julian and Remy with the former joining the

mix.

“Aunt Audrey doesn’t want you to start a life in another city, but she’d rather you have a happy marriage

in Annenburg than be caught in a sexless marriage. We don't know what Andrew did to get Julian to

help, but Zachary shouldn't have interfered. I should apologize on behalf of Zachary. Julian must have

been a bother to you.”

Elisa murmured, “So that’s what happened…”

The thing that left her baffled was started by her mother. Elisa was angry as Julian’s pursuit was a pain

in her neck. Now that she learned the truth, she was not furious anymore.

How could she when the source of her trouble was her mother?

With Serenity looking guilty and remorseful, Elisa offered her comfort, “You don’t have to apologize,

Seren. I won’t be mad at or blame Zachary. At the end of the day, my mom is the cause of this.

“Although Julian caused me distress, it wasn't all bad. At least my mom budged and she is nicer to

Remy now. Julian was only putting up an act. He wasn't actually pursuing me. Remy and I are in a

better place in our relationship. I wouldn't be angry if Walter didn't show up at my house to ask for my

hand in marriage.”

Serenity and Zachary were worried that Elisa would be furious with Zachary for butting in.

Armed with the truth, Elisa got a grip on herself. The whole thing blew out of proportion because her

mother was against her marrying off to Annenburg. Elisa did not blame Zachary.

Serenity blamed herself. “Elisa, I only found out not too long ago, but I didn’t tell you right away

because Aunt Audrey seemed to prefer Remy when Julian went after you.”

Elisa said with a smile, “I’m not angry. I’m sure you only want the best for me. Don’t take it to heart. I’mnovelbin

glad I know the reason now. That’s one mystery gone.”

Still, Elisa did not know what to do with Walter and Stacy proposing a marriage between her and Julian.

“The problem is Walter and Stacy are acting fast. Alright, I can’t talk now. I need to go home, Seren.

You should leave early too. Your priority should be your baby.”

Elisa grabbed her purse and phone before rushing out of the office. Of course, she had to remind

Serenity not to stay too long at work.
