Chapter 2238

Liberty sent the servers to wait on Chelsea and her husband.

Serenity was helping her sister out too.

She spotted an opportunity to ask Liberty, “Did you invite Chelsea, or did she show up uninvited?”

“Uninvited.”

Liberty faintly said, “Well, she and her husband are here now. I’m not going to tell them to leave out of

respect for Sonny.”

Women must be wise when choosing a partner.

Otherwise, they would end up like Liberty. Liberty married a sc*mbag, and her child was related to

unbelievable relatives.

“Liberty, I noticed Chelsea’s reluctance when she handed you a well-wishing card.”

Serenity added with a muffled laugh, “I wanted to laugh when I saw the ache in her face from parting

with cash. She probably thought you wouldn’t accept the gift.”

Liberty cheerfully replied, “The money is from Sonny’s grandparents, and Chelsea is only delivering

their regards. She didn’t chip in one bit. There were five thousand dollars inside the card. I don’t expect

anything less from Chelsea since she’s a miser, always looking to get something for her personal gain.

She was hoping I wouldn’t accept the money, so she could keep the money and tell her parents that I

accepted the gift.”

Serenity responded, “She sure is something else.”

“I know a lot about her since we were in-laws for years. She’s that kind of person. You can be nice to

her, and she might appreciate some of the gestures, but it won’t stop her from trying to take advantage

of you.”novelbin

Old habits died hard.

Serenity murmured, “It’s a good thing we got custody of Sonny. God knows how they will raise Sonny if

we leave him in their hands.”

It was telltale by the way Mr. and Mrs. Brown brought Chelsea’s children up.

“I gave birth to Sonny. I can’t possibly leave Sonny to them. I will return the five thousand dollars to

Sonny’s grandparents when I take the boy to visit his father. I don’t want their money. The Browns

probably drained their bank account to pay for Hank’s hospital bills.”

Hank gave half of his money from years of a job promotion, salary, and repos to Liberty during the

divorce. The remainder was used to renovate his marital home with Jessica, so Hank did not have

much left.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown had supplemented Chelsea’s family income in the past.

They must have exhausted their savings to get treatment for Hank.

Liberty did not want their money.

Nevertheless, Liberty did not trust Chelsea to return the money to Mr. and Mrs. Brown.

“Let’s pray they don’t hang onto Sonny and leech off of him.”

Serenity was most worried about the Browns latching onto Sonny and bleeding him dry once poverty

struck them.

Fortunately, Sonny was only three years old.

If Sonny was an adult with a job and income, Sonny would have to pay for Hank’s hospitalization. Hank

would not be able to hop onto the job wagon wheel for a while, and Mr. and Mrs. Brown were old. The

housing mortgage had not been paid off yet.

All these burdens would fall on Sonny’s shoulders.
