Chapter 2237

Chelsea expressed her displeasure to her husband and was tempted to take out three thousand dollars

from the gift of five thousand dollars. George gave Chelsea a lecture about how short-sighted she was

in taking steps to repair the family’s relationship with Serenity and Liberty. To think she wanted to take

her parents’ gift to Liberty for herself.

Well, she was not one to hesitate when it came to making decisions.

Chelsea handed the card with five thousand dollars inside to Liberty even if it hurt her.

“Liberty, my parents sent their regards, and here is a card from them. Mom, Dad, and Hank hope your

business goes well.”

Chelsea was hoping Liberty would refuse the card. She could go back and tell her parents that Liberty

took the card, and Chelsea would keep the five thousand dollars.

Liberty took the card from Chelsea and said, “Mr. and Mrs. Brown are too kind.”

Chelsea forced a smile as Liberty accepted the gift.

“Have a spot to sit down, Chelsea. Enjoy the drinks and food. I should attend to other customers.”

Liberty received Chelsea and George, asking them to take a seat and exchanging a few words of

pleasantries before mingling with other customers.

Chelsea took a look around and realized that men were dressed in suits and women wore designer

outfits and expensive jewelry. It was clear that these people were from high places.

She and her husband may be thick-skinned, but they did not have the audacity to strike up a

conversation with them.

The only people they knew were Zachary, Serenity, and Duncan.

Chelsea wanted to say hello to Serenity, but Serenity did not hold back from biting remarks. Plus, novelbin

Chelsea was afraid of Zachary. In the end, she could not bring herself to greet them.

As Duncan went around the restaurant with Liberty, greeting customers like he owned the place,

Chelsea bitterly whispered to George, “Liberty took the card with the money even though she has

money. My parents are old and probably spent a lot of their money. Liberty had the nerve to accept the

money.”

George replied, “It’s a gift from your parents. It’s not our money. We didn’t contribute a penny. Since it

was a gift, you should have preempted yourself that she would accept it.

“It’s five thousand bucks! Our friends and families slipped us only a few hundred bucks when we

opened our supply shop for building materials. The most we got was eight hundred and eighty-eight

dollars, yet Mom and Dad gave Liberty five thousand dollars. She got more than the total we received

back then.”

“Five thousand dollars to others must be a tiny amount. Your parents must have taken into account that

Liberty was in a different position now, so they were generous with their gift. Besides, Liberty’s money

would be left to your nephew, Sonny anyway.”

Chelsea pursed her lips and said, “We are supposed to be close since we’re family, but Sonny doesn’t

warm up to me. Even if Liberty would leave her money to Sonny, I’d probably get nothing out of it. The

kid is crafty.”

“That is why we should change our attitudes and teach Lucas to be kind to Sonny so that they could

have a relationship. Sonny has endless opportunities ahead.”

George murmured to his wife, “Think about who Sonny’s aunt is. Think about the preschools Sonny

and Lucas are attending. Sonny has got a head start. Lucas shouldn’t walk all over Sonny like before.

All is not lost if we can get the kids to play together. Sooner or later, we can win the boy over, and he’ll

embrace the family. I’m sure Sonny won’t leave his family out in the cold. At the end of the day, Hank is

Sonny’s dad, and he paid for child support. Sonny will support Hank financially when he grows old.”

Chelsea replied in a soft voice, “I know, but Lucas is used to having his way. He’s having a hard time

kicking the habit of picking on Sonny. Sonny seems to hold a grudge. The kids don’t really play

together during the occasional meetups.”

Sonny preferred not to have playtime with her son.

George was at a loss for words.

His youngest son was spoiled rotten.

The conversation between Chelsea and her husband was not of Liberty’s concern, not that she cared

anyway.

She did not invite the Browns, and they still came. It was not like she could turn away well-meaning

visitors.
