Chapter 2221

“That’s right. The baby’s health is more important than gender. The York family has had sons for

generations. They can’t blame you for not being able to birth a daughter. The deciding factor of a

baby’s gender is the men anyway.”

“Seren,” called a familiar voice.

It was Grandma May.

Elisa and Serenity looked toward the office door. They saw her entering with Mrs. Lane carrying a few

insulated lunch boxes in her hands too.

“What brings you here, Nana?”

“Grandma May.”

Serenity and Elisa stood.

When Serenity spotted the lunch boxes Mrs. Lane was holding, she figured out why Grandma May had

come. They were delivering food to her.

The old lady smiled and said, “It’s noon. I don’t want you walking around because the weather’s

scorching, so Cecilia and I are here to deliver some food for you to eat in the office. You can even takenovelbin

a rest after eating.”

After speaking, she grinned at Elisa and said, “It’s been a while, Little Fireball.”

Elisa grumbled unhappily, “I’m not little anymore, Grandma May. I’m even older than Serenity. You

should stop calling me Little Fireball. I’m not even fiery anymore.”

Grandma May laughed. She said, “In my eyes, you’re still young. You’re only tame with the people you

care about but still as fiery as ever in public. It’s the right thing to do. You should always reserve your

gentlest side to the people closest to you.”

When she noticed Elisa was already holding her bag, she added, “I prepared extra food, Elisa. It’s

enough for you and Seren. You don’t have to eat out.”

Elisa smiled and said, “I would love to have lunch with Seren and taste Mrs. Lane’s cooking, but we

have a lunch appointment with a client, Grandma May. I don’t want Seren to go because that client

smokes. The smell is strong, and Seren’s pregnant. I can’t let her inhale second-hand smoke.

“I was in the middle of dissuading Seren from following me. You came at the right time, Grandma May.

You can accompany her to have lunch here. I’m going to meet the client now.”

Serenity was speechless.

While her in-laws did not restrict her from doing anything, her cousin was extremely controlling.

Elisa would even have the urge to pour a glass of water for Serenity to prevent her from moving when

Serenity was thirsty.

Elisa was being overly cautious, but she was simply following her mom’s orders to look after Serenity.

After finding out that Serenity had returned from Annenburg, Audrey prepared many gifts. She brought

her husband and daughter to Zachary’s manor on the hilltop and gave Serenity many reminders.

Audrey also gave her daughter countless instructions back at home. She told Elisa that as Serenity’s

cousin, she had to look after Serenity at the office and not let her move heavy items.

“Oh, you can go meet your client then. I’ll be with Seren while she eats her lunch.”

“Thanks, Grandma May. Bye.”

Elisa walked out the office with her bag in hand.

As co-owners of the company, they worked together instead of separating their offices.

Mrs. Lane placed the four insulated lunch boxes on the office table.

Serenity tidied her table in a rush.

“Nana, Mrs. Lane, you brought too much food. There are four boxes!”

Mrs. Lane smiled and said, “Old Mrs. York was worried you wouldn’t have an appetite, so she told me

to make more of your favorites.”

“My appetite hasn’t changed much besides having a stronger craving for sour food.”

“Mr. York said your morning sickness worsens after eating sour or sweet food. He specially instructed

me not to make sour or sweet food for you. However, I secretly brought a sour prune for you because I

know you crave sour food now.”
