Chapter 1870

Since Duncan decided not to give up on Liberty, Zachary was more than happy to give his best bud a

boost and create an opportunity for them to spend time together.

After thinking, Liberty said, “I might not be available so soon. If you’re willing to wait here for a moment,

Mr. Lewis, I can give you a ride home later.”

Duncan immediately said, “It’s okay. I can wait. You can give me a ride after you’re done with your

matters. I have nothing to do if I go home anyway. If I stay here, I can even help you to keep an eye on

the renovation process.”

He could provide Liberty with many ideas too.

“Zachary, you can go and handle whatever you have to. Don’t delay it because of me.”

Duncan urged Zachary to leave quickly and hand him over to Liberty. No matter how busy Liberty was,

she would have to take time out to give him a ride. That way, he would be able to spend more time with

her.

Although he was in a wheelchair, he could still woo his wife.

He would do his best to recuperate and stand up as soon as possible.

“I’ll be leaving then, Liberty, Duncan.”

Zachary winked at his friend and gestured his support to him while Liberty was not paying attention.

After that, he returned to speaking seriously so she would think he had something urgent to handle.

“Go and take care of your matters,” Liberty said.

Zachary bade them goodbye and walked out of the restaurant.

He had successfully “sold” his friend to his sister-in-law.

That was as much as he could help him.

After exiting Liberty’s new store, Zachary got into the car but was not in a rush to start driving. That was

because his phone started ringing at that moment.

It was an unknown number.

He picked up the call eagerly.

It was most likely his husband-abandoning wife who called since it was an unknown number calling his

personal phone.

“Babe.”

It was really Serenity who called.

She addressed him so sweetly.

When Mr. York, who had been abandoned at home, heard his wife calling him so softly, all his

resentment dissipated.

“Honey, I miss you so much. When are you coming back? Tell Nana that I promise I won’t complain

about you anymore. I know you’re working very hard for my sake. I was wrong to complain about younovelbin

neglecting me.”

Serenity smiled and said, “We just arrived. Nana said I shouldn’t tell you the name of the city we’re in.

It’s a fun city. I don’t blame you for complaining about me. You’re busy, and you made time to

accompany me more by coming home at half-past nine every night. On the other hand, I always go on

business trips and have indeed neglected you.”

“No, no. You didn’t neglect me. You’ve always had me on your mind. I was too greedy and bossy. I

desperately want to tie you to my side 24/7.”

“Honey, let’s not blame or apologize to each other. There’ll always be an adjustment period in marriage.

Have you eaten? Don’t let yourself go hungry and hurt your stomach.”

Zachary said pitifully, “Nothing tastes good because you’re not at home. I already ate, but it felt

tasteless. I won’t let myself go hungry. If I did, you’d have to take care of me, and I’ll feel bad for tiring

you out.

“If I became thinner and uglier from hunger, you might be disgusted with me after returning and prefer

Shawn more. It’s not worth it for me. Shawn is young and handsome. He’s more… I’m not jealous,

okay?”

Serenity burst out laughing. “It seems like Shawn is your nightmare. Zachary, I’ve truly never loved

Shawn. He’s just a younger brother to me. He’s also Jasmine’s cousin, so I treat him similarly.

“It’s been so long. You’ve been jealous until now just because I said hi to him.”

Her man really, really liked being jealous.

One day, Serenity would cook a table’s worth of sour dishes and let Zachary have his fill. She would

see if he still dared to be sour over such things.

“Boo hoo…”

Zachary suddenly heard a baby crying. Although the baby’s wail was not very loud, he still caught it.
