Chapter 1605

In the White House in Brimmopolis, Hansel Windsor, the president of Eurasia, sat on his chair in hisstudy room. His eyes were shut as he leaned back in his seat.

Had he fallen asleep, or was he merely thinking about something?

At that moment, there were two knocks on the door. Presently, he heard the sound of heels clickingagainst the floor.

It was the First Lady, Camilla Quinn.

She was wearing a gown with lilies embroidered on it and a pair of high heels. Her hair had beenswept up in a high ponytail, which cascaded down on her shoulders like a waterfall and made herlook elegant and beautiful.

The moment she stepped into the room, Hansel opened his eyes and asked in a dull voice, “HaveBoris and Clifford left?”

Camilla smiled bitterly. “They just had an audience with me in the reception hall. I had to listen tothem go on for two hours while pretending to sip my tea. They finally went home after I promised todo my best to help them.”

Hansel asked, “What were they here for,

Unhurriedly, Camilla went to arrange and put away the papers and files on her husband's desk.“One of them blamed Nathan Cross for his son's death, while the other one accused the sameNathan of killing his daughter.” “Both of them are of the opinion that Nathan abused his powers tokill innocent lives. They want you to remove Nathan from his position and to punish him severely forhis crimes.”

Hansel frowned. “Nathan seems to be in quite a spot of trouble with Boris and Clifford these days.”novelbin

“Nathan is a man of honor. Of course he wouldn't get along well with those sly foxes,” Camillareplied.

“Nathan is one of your charges. Back then, it was you who opposed all opinions and promotedNathan to the position of General of the North.”

“Now that you're nearing the end of your presidential term, the two of them are trying to get Nathanout of the way so they can put one of their own men into the position of General of the North.”

“Besides, you sent Nathan and Hailey to investigate Boris, which made Boris and the others regardNathan as a thorn in their eyes. Of course they would want him out of the picture.”

Hansel's face clouded over gloomily at the mention of the investigation into Boris's activities.

Somehow, he knew that Boris was behind the death of his own son, Wyatt.

However, when Hansel got Nathan and Hailey to investigate him, they had only managed to dig upthe dirt on his subordinate, Christopher.

There still wasn't enough evidence to incriminate Boris.

Worse still, that investigation had caused Boris to become warier of Hansel.

By the look of the current situation, Hansel could tell that it will be very difficult for him to get rid ofBoris and the other scum in his Cabinet before the end of his term.

Boris would probably muck around until the end of Hansel's Cabinet and then continue muckingaround as a member of the next president's Cabinet.

Seeing the depressed look on her husband's face, Camilla could tell what he was worried about.

Smiling, she said, “Nathan has been getting into lots of conflicts with Boris and Clifford and the restlately, and they've become warier of us. Are you afraid that you won't be able to expel them from theparliament before the end of your term?"

Hansel shot her a look and sighed. “Indeed!”

“I got Hailey and the rest to investigate Boris's activities in secret, but all they managed to uncoverwere trivial matters that won't help us bring Boris down.”

“Boris and his cronies have hidden their secrets too deeply.”

Camilla smiled. “You're locked in a stalemate with him now.”

“Only someone like Nathan, who has been everywhere, will be able to put a stop to this stalemate.Honestly, I think it's best if we let Nathan go up against Boris, Clifford, and the rest —and the morevicious their fight, the better!”

Hansel looked at her curiously. “What do you mean?”

Camilla replied, “We know who will come out victorious in a fight between them. The worst thing youcan do now is locking yourself in a stalemate.”

“Once you let Nathan go up against Boris and the others, he'll be able to expose even more of theirsecrets. As the saying goes, it is the greatest and the tallest of trees that the gods bring low withbolts and thunder.”
