Chapter 1606

However, Hansel shook his head. “That won't work. You must remember that Nathan is my disciple. With me around, Boris and the rest won't dare to go hard on him—it'll be difficult to get them toreveal anything.”

“And what if you aren't around?” Camilla pressed.

Hansel frowned. “What do you mean?”novelbin

Camilla smiled at him. “Didn't you manage to get out of a meeting with Boris and Clifford just now bypretending that you're sick?”

“If you pretend that you're severely ill to the point of having to take medical leave, all theparliamentary responsibilities will be relegated to your Cabinet.”

“Without you around, Boris and Clifford would do their very best to make things difficult for Nathanand the rest. The crazier they are, however, the more opportunities you have for getting rid of them.”

Hansel's eyes lit up. However, he still seemed a little worried. “But what if they go overboard with it?They might try and rid Nathan of his position and rank without me around.”

Clarissa continued to grin. “Don't forget that the other Cabinet members have been around for awhile, and are still loyal to you.”

“Every decision made by the Cabinet has to receive approval from at least seven of them before itcan be written into law.”

“Without the approval of those senior Cabinet members, it'll be impossible for Boris and the rest toget rid of Nathan so easily.”

“Oh, you're right!” Hansel laughed.

“Haha! I've learned something today! Thank you for your suggestion, Camilla. We'll do exactly whatyou said.”

“I'll pretend to be so sick that I can't work, and hand over the responsibilities to my Cabinet. I'll letloose Boris and his cronies and let them wither into their own deaths!”

A few days later, in Channing City in the South, Penny's pregnancy was finally stable.

She was finally discharged from the hospital and returned home.

Benson and Leah personally cooked her a feast to celebrate her discharge.

Nathan, Kylie, and Queenie were accompanying Penny in the living room. As they joked and

chatted among themselves, Penny smiled happily.

At that moment, Ava showed up and said to Nathan, “General, there's something I need to report toyou.”

Nathan said blandly. “Alright, then. Let's talk in my study.”

Very quickly, Nathan brought Ava to his study, where she told him the news she had brought withher from the South.

Upon hearing that the President had fallen ill, Nathan felt a little shocked.

“I just met the President a few weeks ago, and he looked perfectly fine. How did he collapse fromillness just like this?” Nathan was disturbed.

In a quiet voice, Ava replied, “The Cabinet has announced that the President caught the flu while hewas pulling an all-nighter in the office. Now, he can barely speak or move his limbs, and isrecuperating at the White House.”

“Even the doctors have no idea when he'll be able to recover fully.”

“Now, the Cabinet is responsible for making major decisions, at least until the President returns.”

Hansel had been the one who nurtured Nathan and accepted him as his own disciple. To Nathan,Hansel was both a supervisor and a dedicated mentor.

Upon knowing that his mentor was ill, Nathan quickly gave a call to Camilla, asking if he was doingwell.

Camilla sighed sadly. “Thanks for your concern, Nathan. The President is recuperating right now,but we have no idea when he will make a full recovery. It might take a few months or even years.

“Right now, the Cabinet is in charge of parliamentary affairs. I heard you got on the wrong side ofMr. Tucker and Mr. Davier recently, so mind you be a little more careful.”

“Now that the President is ill, I'm afraid they're going to make things difficult for you.”

Nathan replied, “Don't worry about me, Aunt Camilla. Please take good care of the President.

I'll be returning to Brimmopolis tomorrow to visit him. I hope he makes a full recovery soon.”

As soon as she heard this, Camilla opened her mouth instinctively to reject him. However, shesuddenly thought of something and said, “Alright, then.”

After hanging up the phone, Nathan stewed in silence for a while.

He then turned to Ava and asked, “How is Colin doing?”

“He's pretty much recovered now. He keeps whining that he misses you and wants to return towork,” Ava replied, smiling.

Nathan said, “Tell Colin that he and the Elite Eight are to accompany me back to Brimmopolistomorrow.”

“Yes, General,” Ava replied.
