Chapter 2162

James was not in a hurry and waited patiently. James walked into the Celestial Abode with Laelia asthe soldiers moved the grains.

As soon as James walked into the City Lord’s Mansion inside the Celestial Abode, a purple bird flewover. It gradually shrank to the size of a sparrow, then landed on James’ shoulder.

“Oh!”

Laelia could not help exclaiming upon Seeing the sparrow-sized Gorger.

James turned around and looked at her, asking, “What’s wrong?”

Laelia stared at the Gorger intently. After a few seconds, she said with a smile, “It looks very similarto the red bird at the village in my family’s ancestral lands.”

James felt a shiver run down his spine after hearing her words.

The little bird at the village in the Targwyns’ ancestral land?

James did not pay attention, so he did not know there was a similar bird in the ancestral land. However, if Laelia pointed it out, she must be correct.

James knew the purple bird was a Gorger.

‘Could there be another Gorger in the Targwyns’ ancestral land?

‘Could it be the parent of this purple Gorger?’

Thinking of the possibilities, James’ blood ran cold.

Laelia asked, “What’s the matter, James?”

“It’s nothing.”

He came to his senses and said nonchalantly, “I guess birds more or less look alike.”

Laelia nodded. “Mhm, that’s true. The bird in our ancestral land has red fathers, but this one ispurple. Your bird is gorgeous.”

After speaking, she reached out to touch the Gorger on James’ shoulder.

The Gorger immediately flew away. It flapped its tiny wings in the air and chittered at Laelia.

Laelia said smilingly, “I see this little guy has a bit of a temper.”

While this was happening, James’ thoughts were fixated on what Laelia had mentioned just now.

He wondered whether there was another Gorger in the Targwyns’ ancestral land and if it was theone that had a cultivation base close to the ultimate rank.

The ancestral land was not a simple place if his conjectures were true.

James felt slightly anxious after considering all the possibilities.

“James.”

Sophie walked out from the mansion gate and greeted James with a bright smile.

James straightened up and replied, “Ms. Sophie.”

Sophie nodded lightly in response to James. Then, her eyes locked onto Laelia, and a white glowshone from her eyes, scanning Laelia.

At that moment, Laelia felt like everything had been laid bare and no secret would escape unnoticedby Sophie.

She took a few steps backward.

Soon, the white glow on her body disappeared.

James knew what Sophie had done and was exasperated. He reprimanded her, “What are youdoing, Ms. Sophie? Why would you scan her the moment you just met her?”

Sophie said smilingly, “I just felt a different aura about her and wanted to know why.”

Hearing this, James was also intrigued. He asked, “What’s the result?”

By now, he was somewhat used to Sophie’s quirks.novelbin

If Sophie thought that Laelia was unusual, that meant she must be very extraordinary.

Sophie said with a faint smile, “Even if I told you, you won’t understand. I’m going to the traininggrounds in the back of the city to check on your army.”

She then turned around and left.
