Chapter 6

In the Sacred Church, Elisa, dressed in a white veil and holding flowers, walked slowly towards thepriest in the center, without any music or father’s support. Suelen and Olivia below looked at herwith disgust and mokery, occasionally whispering to each other, but Elisa couldn’t hear anything. She was still immersed in the shock of Anna’s request. “Although Robert has been in a coma forthree years, all his bodily functions are fine. The doctor said you can conceive naturally and have ababy.” “Mrs. Fischer, wouldn’t it be impolite to do this without Mr. Fischer’s consent?” Elisa washesitated. She thought the Fisher family only wanted someone to take care of Mr. Fischer, but shedidn’t expect this requirement. Damn it! “Don’t worry about that. If my son wakes up, I will talk tohim. The Fischer family is big and complicated. If my son doesn’t wake up, our properties willeventually fall into the hands of others. We really need a legitimate heir.” “But we have many waysto obtain an heir. With the advanced technology of in vitro fertilization, maybe we can…” “Iunderstand what you mean, but his grandfather is traditional. He still hope that you can fulfill theduties of a wife. When you become pregnant, your mother will undergo surgery.” Faced with Anna’sfirm tone, Elisa reluctantly agreed, even though she was very unwilling in her heart. However, at thiscritical moment, she couldn’t give up. … “I am now honored to announce, through the bride’ssolemn commitment and vows, she has now become Mr. Fischer’s wife.” Elisa snapped back toreality amidst the priest’s solemn words. She had made the oath alone and had put the weddingring on herself. There was no groom at her wedding, nor anyone who truly cared about her. It wasan incredibly eerie wedding. After the priest announced the completion of the wedding, Annaapproached the priest to express her gratitude, then came to Elisa, “The butler will take you to thehospital. Normally, the wedding night should be hold at home, but you know Robert’s condition. Wecan only inconvenience you for a while and have you go to the hospital first. Remember what youpromised me, don’t disappoint me. I have some matters to attend to in my company, so I’ll leavefirst. I’ll come to see you tomorrow.” After Anna finished her instructions, she hurriedly left thechurch with her assistant. Elisa lifted her skirt and prepared to follow the butler out when she heardapplause behind her. “Congratulations, my sister,” Olivia slowly walked up to Elisa. “You’ll spend therest of your life taking care of a vegetable.” “Sweet, have you forgotten? Taking care of people is hernovelbin

specialty, isn’t it? Before, it was her dying mother, and now it’s just a disabled husband,” Suelenwalked up next to Olivia, and they were chuckled. Elisa coldly glanced at the two of them. “I hopewhen the Fischer family hears your words, you’ll still be able to laugh as well.” Suelen thought ofMrs. Fisher’s powerful presence and felt a shiver in her heart. “You… how dare you threaten me!The Fischer family means nothing to us!” “Don’t forget our agreement. I will come find youtomorrow!” Elisa said coldly, turning and walking towards the door. From now on, she was Mr.Fisher’s wife, and her mother would have the money for treatment. But she had promised Anna tobear a child with her husband. How could she make that happen? Elisa got into the Fischer family’scar, still immersed in confusion about the future, when suddenly her phone vibrated. Seeing anunknown number, Elisa worried it might be a call from the hospital, so she quickly pick up thephone. “Hello, is this Melody Maestro?” a strange man’s voice came through the phone. Elisafurrowed her brows slightly, feeling cautious. “Who are you? How did you get my contactinformation?” “Hello! I was wondering if you accept outside engagements. I would like to inquireabout booking a live performance from you…” Before Charles could finish his sentence, the callabruptly disconnected. When he attempted to call back, he received a message stating that thenumber was unreachable. Charles now understood that he was likely being mistaken for a pervertand had been blocked… In this moment, Charles felt an overwhelming sense of shame. As Mr.Fischer’s golden assistant, he was always the person others pleaded to speak with. This was thefirst time someone had hung up on him and even blocked his number. Charles clenched his teeth inanger, contemplating Mr. Fischer’s comatose state. “Never mind! I will come up with anothersolution.”
