Chapter 1803

The girl came to a stop in front of Cindy. “I know who you are. I saw the news.”

Oh, have you now? Cindy was not intimidated at all as she raised a brow and asked, “And?” novelbin

Pursing her lips, the girl pointed out snidely, “Stay away from Peter if you don’t want your reputation totake an even harder hit, or I’ll start calling you out on social media, too.”

Cindy sputtered. “Please, go right ahead. I’d like to see what you’ll have to write about me.” She knewthat the girl was only trying to scare her; scandalous material aside, the girl’s empty allegations againstCindy might only end up ruining Peter’s good name and she surely wouldn’t dare to take the risk.

Presently, the girl fell into a glum silence when she heard Cindy’s challenging tone. She was obviouslyhere to warn Cindy off, but she had no real ammunition.

Cindy added forthrightly as she changed the topic, “I saw you and Peter arguing the last time I went fora walk. What, did he turn you down or something?”

The girl was affronted and outraged, and her eyes widened as she spat, “Stay out of my business!Even if I was turned down, it doesn’t mean you are able to have your eyes on Peter. You already havea boyfriend!”

A smirk played on Cindy’s lips as she eyed the girl mockingly. It was infuriating, and the girl took this inwhile gritting her teeth. After a while, Cindy chuckled and said, “Well, you’re right about the boyfriendpart, so take it easy. If you know about my having a boyfriend, then you’d definitely know who he is.”

She was trying to be tactful. In choosing a romantic partner, any woman could tell who the obviouschoice was between Ian and Peter. It was unlikely that Cindy would ever betray him for Peter.

Unless, of course, she was one of those women who were blind and stupid.

However, the girl did not seem to understand the subtext in Cindy’s statement, but she somehowpicked up on the fact that there truly was nothing going on between her and Peter.

Peter had always told her that he only saw Cindy as a friend, but she never believed him. As far as shewas concerned, he was a top-quality piece of real estate, and Cindy would be crazy not to like him.

Meanwhile, when Cindy saw that the girl had a defeated attitude, she lost interest too. She turned awayand said in a clipped tone, “If there’s nothing else you have to say, I’ll leave.”

The girl paused in thought before her line of vision trailed over to Aurora. “Is that your mother?”

Cindy didn’t try to deny this as she asked coolly, “Do you think we look alike?”

Unsure as to whether there was any resemblance at all between Cindy and Aurora, the girl kept mumin hesitation.

Cindy smiled, but there was a dark undertone to her voice as she warned, “Don’t even think aboutlooking into the people around me, you hear me? If you’ve done your research on us, you would knowhow easy it will be for us to crush you.”

The girl and Peter were only ordinary folks, which meant they weren’t even playing in the same league

as Cindy and Ian.

Naturally, the girl understood this, and she did not make an effort to retort as her lips pressed into agrim line.

With that, Cindy turned and walked away, hurrying over to Aurora.

Aurora greeted her readily, then lowered her voice as she asked, “What did that girl want with you? What did she say?”

Cindy sighed exasperatedly. “A woman in love sees every other woman as her enemy.”

Aurora quirked her lips. “I think you mean they see you as an enemy.” When this earned her a deadlyglare from Cindy, she hastened to elaborate with a smile, “What? I’m telling the truth. She really doessee you as a rival and it’s not as if Peter is blind. Between the both of you girls, he would definitely takean interest in you. It’s only normal then that she harbors such hostility toward you. Just let her be.”

Cindy didn’t think she was doing anything else but letting the girl be, but she was still annoyed by howshe was targeted without any reason.

She wouldn’t be quite so irritated if the girl’s hostility was justified, but seeing as she had no romanticfeelings for Peter at all, this whole thing was more frustrating than it was amusing.

As of now, neither Cindy nor Aurora brought up the girl and Peter as they headed back in the directionthey had come from. When they had covered some distance, Cindy glanced over her shoulder only tosee that the girl was still rooted in the same spot.
