Chapter 1802

To describe it into words, the Morgan Family’s reputation had already gone down the drain, and nowthat someone was spilling insider information, the public somehow became more forgiving andempathetic.

While the public didn’t exactly forgive Aurora, they were of the opinion that she had adequately atonedfor her sins, given how her whole life was already close to being in shambles.

Cindy waited for the exhaustion to pass, but in the end, she caved in and decided to take a napinstead.

Ian texted her that afternoon and told her that he would not return until later that evening. The MorganFamily would have a lot of loose ends to tie up after the funeral, so there was a chance he wouldn’t beback until well after supper time.

Cindy wasn’t too bothered by this, having already foreseen that he would be held up at his family homeuntil late night. She briefly reminded him to take care of himself while he was there and allowed thematter to drop.

It was evening by the time Cindy woke up from her nap and Aurora had already made dinner. Cindyhad only just opened her bedroom door when she heard Aurora humming in the kitchen. She musthave really moved on from grief instead of living in denial.

When dinner was over, the both of them saw that there was still time for them to take an evening strolldownstairs. There were plenty of passers-by in the area at this hour, and Cindy and Aurora stopped intheir tracks after walking a bit of distance from the apartment.

Aurora turned to look at the park and chuckled as she said, “I wonder whether Peter is there. Want togo and take a look?”

Cindy was quick to counter, “Why would I do that?”

“Because he likes you,” Aurora teased with a wicked smile. “If you were to show up now, he’d definitelytry to chat you up!”

“Okay, please stop with your lies,” Cindy said defensively. “He doesn’t like me; there’s someone elsewho’s caught his eye.”

Aurora didn’t believe her. It was impossible for a man with a crush on somebody else to be on suchfriendly terms with Cindy. However, she knew how Cindy couldn’t stand such teasing, so she relentedafter a quick round of jesting. Besides, with Cindy and Ian being a couple now, there were just someboundaries that even Aurora couldn’t cross with her jokes.

As expected, there was the usual crowd at the park, but Cindy and Aurora did not head over. Theyrounded the park instead and quite a distance away from the vicinity of the park when Cindy heardsomeone calling after her.

It was a woman’s voice, and she was shouting Cindy’s full name from a distance. Upon hearing this,Cindy and Aurora curiously turned around, with Cindy finding the voice to be familiar. Sure enough, shesaw the girl who had a crush on Peter.

The girl was standing not too far away behind them and she was staring at Cindy with glittering eyes. While there was no hostility in her gaze, Cindy could still sense her wariness.

Aurora, on the other hand, didn’t quite understand what was going on as she turned to look at Cindydubiously. “Wait, I didn’t know you had friends around these parts of the area.”

In all the time that Cindy had hung out with them, Aurora never once heard her mention that she knewanyone in the area. More importantly, the girl who had called after Cindy looked rather familiar.Suddenly, Cindy addressed Aurora in hushed tones, “She’s the one who likes Peter. Maybe you shouldwait for me over there, Aurora. I think she may want to speak with me alone.”

Realization immediately dawned upon Aurora. If that girl has a thing for Peter, then she most definitelyhas something against Cindy. My goodness, will you just look at that murderous gleam in her eyes?Nodding imperceptibly, she said, “Alright, got it. Just take your time talking things out; I’ll be waitingover there by the side.”

With that, Aurora turned and walked toward one of the trees, putting herself just a bit out of earshot asshe stood in the shade.

She didn’t look in Cindy’s direction either and merely spun to fix her gaze on the park in the distance.

Meanwhile, Cindy stood in place as the girl came over with a tight expression.

Until now, Cindy still wasn’t sure what she had done to warrant such unwavering hostility from the girl, and anyone with half a mind could tell that there was nothing going on between her and Peter.

Besides, Peter had already clarified on things the last time they ran into each other.

Then again, Cindy thought bitterly, women in love could be both blind and stupid sometimes.novelbin
