Ian turned to look at Cindy and responded on her behalf, “She should be fine now since I’ve talkedthings out with her.”
Aurora cast him a glare from one side. “I knew it was you who provoked her. I reckoned that a girl witha temper as gentle as Cindy’s would never reveal that kind of an expression if it weren’t because ofyour fault.”
Ian nodded. “Yes, yes, yes. It was my fault. I promise to explain everything clearly to prevent any futuremisunderstandings.”
Argh! I can’t bear to continue listening to their nonsense. What kind of an expression did I reveal thismorning? And what did he mean by preventing future misunderstandings? However, Cindy couldn’t findany words to refute their statements at all. So, she turned on her heels and took a seat at the diningtable.
Upon seeing that, Aurora raised her hand and tapped on Ian’s shoulder twice. “You’d better behaveyourself after this. Do you think that she is on her own? No, she and I are a team. You have to gothrough me before you even think about bullying her.”

At the mention of Simon, Cindy recalled about the incident in which Leah purposely called Ian to givehim a scolding. Hence, she suddenly chimed in from the side, “Perhaps Simon really isn’t his son.”
Aurora turned to look at Cindy. Feeling satisfied with her performance, she grabbed the latter’s arm.“Cindy, you know me the best. To be honest, I hope that the brat isn’t the old man’s son; I wonder whatwill be his reaction when he finds out. After toying around with women outside for so many years, hewas tricked by one of them. I can’t wait to see that happen,” Aurora commented in a wicked tone. Uponseeing her reaction, an initially enraged Cindy was unable to resist her laughter.
Ian raised his eyes and cast a glance at Cindy. When he had just entered the house earlier, sheseemed ill and had a dark expression. However, she was currently smiling with a blush on her cheeks,which made her look very much better than before.
Hence, he couldn’t help but to speculate that Cindy’s illness earlier might have something to do with themisunderstanding that she had, whereby she thought that the person he had been in contact withyesterday was Yulia.
Upon having such thoughts, Ian felt elated and was unable to hold back the feeling of satisfaction thatbubbled up inside him.
The three of them then chatted over the meal. After the meal, Aurora took out her phone in an attemptto check the news online.
Nevertheless, the moment she logged in to the website, she suddenly yelped after barely scanningthrough it.
Cindy immediately looked at her. “What’s the matter? What happened again?”
Aurora handed the phone to her for her to check it out. “Look at this—the media reported that Ian wentto the hospital to visit the old man and they had a nice chat.”
