Chapter 1714

With that, he straightened up and supported Cindy in an attempt to help her to sit up straight. “How areyou feeling now? Would you like to go and see a doctor?”

She went along with him and sat up, but she lowered her eyes and avoided making eye-contact withhim. “Who did you chat with last night?”

The upward curve at the corner of his lips revealed the unconcealable smile on his face. “Do you reallywant to know?”

Cindy noticed the teasing lilt to his tone, so she maintained a straight face. “Forget it if you are unwillingto tell me. I don’t really want to know, anyway.”

Then, she turned to hop off the bed, but was stopped by Ian when he placed a hand on her shoulder. “Iwant to tell you. Why wouldn’t I be willing to tell you? If I don’t tell you, what should I do if you give meattitude next time?”

Cindy glared at him , wanting to refute his words. When did I ever do that? Besides, I have no reasonto do so, no? novelbin

However, Ian beat her to it and explained, “I had a call with Sean yesterday. He was drunk. It started offby just a call, but he then started texting me.”

Ian’s reply stunned Cindy as she never expected that the incident actually involved Sean.

Ian and Sean were not exactly close and they seldom called each other, so the fact that they

communicated with each other in the middle of the night caught her by surprise.

Ian then continued, “Yesterday, the old man gave Sean a call and said that he wanted to meet him. So,Sean went over, and the old man kept apologizing to him. He acknowledged his mistakes and evenadmitted that he was not qualified to be a father and felt sorry for his past doings.” Ian then let out achuckle before he carried on, “Sean was startled by him, so he called me to ask what happened.”

Nevertheless, Ian had no idea what happened. If he were to make a deduction, he would say thatBryce had a tough time lately and found that none of his children cared for him. Hence, he reflected onhis past doings and realized that he had made some mistakes.

Truth be told, Ian felt that forgiveness was never an option even if Bryce made an apology at this age.The damage had been done and everything that had happened was now a thing of the past, soapologizing at this point wouldn’t do any good. Besides, could a word of apology erase everything thathad happened? The answer was clearly a no.

Aurora’s life had been ruined, Ian’s childhood had been in darkness, and even his future had beenaffected.

All these would not change with a simple apology and an acknowledgement of Bryce’s mistakes.

As such, standing on a malicious perspective, Ian thought that Bryce had apologized for the sake ofseeking internal peace since all he had to do was to open his mouth.

When Cindy heard that Bryce was willing to admit his mistakes, she was still surprised by it, althoughshe was not as shocked as Ian.

She didn’t have much interaction with Bryce, since the only time she ever made contact with him waswhen she went to visit him in the hospital.

Her impression of him was that he was an individualistic and pompous old man.

An old man like him usually had a strong self-esteem, which made it difficult for him to take the initiativeto admit his mistakes.

However, what Cindy wanted to ask was actually something else. “Did he know about the news on theInternet and that his youngest son is slandering you?”

Although Sean had not mentioned this over the call yesterday, Ian reckoned that Bryce knew about thisincident. Hence, after a moment of hesitation, he replied, “I’m unsure of the exact situation but fromwhat Sean mentioned, he should be able to represent the old man’s stand. Since Sean is siding withme, the old man should bear the same attitude.”

Cindy gave it some thoughts and snorted. “It’s a father’s fault when a child misbehaves. It must be dueto the poor upbringing of his youngest son that caused Simon to have the courage to kick up a fuss onthe Internet. Anyhow, he should bear the responsibility in this incident.”

Ian nodded. “This is indeed his problem, but he definitely won’t admit it.”

Unlike Sean and him, Simon had Leah by his side, so Bryce would certainly push all the problemsabout Simon to her.

That was all Ian had to say. Then, he rose to his full height and pulled Cindy up by holding her hand.

Cindy got off the bed and immediately retracted her hand, but she couldn’t help but recall how Ian wasabove her earlier.
