Chapter 493
Aaron stood beside me without saying a word, but he noticed me frowning without speaking. He then
asked quietly, "What are you thinking about?"
I shook my head and looked up subconsciously at the people who have finished decorating the second
floor.
Seeing me hesitate, Aaron added, "Well actually, this is already the best result. Let's not make it even
worse!"
Was it bad?
"My child and Monique are really dead while Andrea was only injured. They are truly gone from my
world. No matter how hard I try, I will never find them again."
I felt depressed thinking of this. I stared at the people on the second floor and nodded. There was a
large projection screen on top of the stage in the lobby of the hotel.
Two minutes later, all the guests who came to attend the banquet were intrigued by the scenes
displayed on the screen. The Moore Family had been successful in Jarold City for years, and it also
showcased Valerie's achievements these past few years.
She was almost as popular as the Moore Family. The guests under the stage went silent as theynovelbin
watched the scenes play before them.
I didn't bother taking a look at the screen, uninterested in what it was showing. The only thing I wanted
to see was Valerie's reaction when she saw these scenes.
However, she did not seem to be as dejected as I had predicted her to be. Instead, she only snuggled
tightly in Pedro's arms, as if she had come completely prepared.
Something buzzed in my head. Pedro glimpsed at me intensely amongst the noisy crowd. In his gaze,
there was no anger nor viciousness; only pity.
I watched him leave the crowd with Valerie in his arms, but my heart was far from feeling on cloud nine.
I knew that from today onwards, Valerie's reputation would be ruined.
It seemed I have finally achieved my goal!
The projector was shut off after Valerie and Pedro left. The hall was filled with whispers of people
gossiping about Valerie being despicable, and voices of mockery and disdain.
The banquet was over. Charles and Aaron were busy seeing the guests off.
I stood in the hall, feeling a little confused.
Austin darted into my sight and asked placidly, "Can we talk?"
I turned my glassy gaze away. I felt melancholy creeping into my skin as I replied, "What do you want
to talk about?"
He sat on the chair beside me and asked me with raised eyebrows, "Did you do that?"
"Yep!" I admitted.
I didn't intend to hide it. No one would dare to pull anything at the Reid family's banquet unless they
were a family member of the Reid family.
He sneered and laid his eyes on me with a sarcastic look on his face. "I thought that you would've felt a
little relieved after hurting Andrea. You are already part of a prominent family and you have Hendrix,
who has given you his heart. It was just a child. Did you really have to do this?"
I pursed my lips and sat on a chair casually. "So, since I already have everything that I should have,
should I pretend that my previous sufferings never happened?"
He knitted his brows. "Ariana, have you ever thought about why the Reid family allowed you to make a
fuss this big, and why the Moore Family even let you pull this off? Was it just from Aaron's influence in
pushing this forward?"
I raised my eyebrows. "If not that then what?"
He jeered and felt that this was ridiculous. "Do you really think that everyone is a fool and would allow
you to abuse them like idiots? Do you know who Pedro is? He was on battlefields in the 1970s. Do you
think he would silently sit by while he watches you humiliate his wife?"
"What are you trying to say?" I asked, my emotions calm and collected.
He snorted and said disdainfully, "I want to tell you that you are a brainless, cold-blooded and idiotic
woman! Stop doing these things! Please mind your own business and live your life in peace."
