Chapter 492

In the south, entering a family registry involved some form of religious celebration, but it seemed to be

different in the north.

After the emcee babbled on about some things, Charles then led me to the stage for a bow. This was to

show that the deal had been sealed.

Charles gave me a delicate sandalwood box and said to me, "This is a pair of emerald green bracelets

that Yvonne liked most when she was still around. When she was alive, she often said that if she had a

daughter, she would give this bracelet to her."

Seeing the moisture in his resolute eyes, I raised my hand and took it. Then, I bowed three times and

called out, "Dad!"

For a moment, Charles's eyes were filled with tears. He helped me up and pulled me along as he

introduced me to everyone.

A poor, peasant girl had been recognized as the daughter of a public figure seemingly for no reason

while such a big banquet had been held. Gossipers were sure to make their rounds.

But it was a good thing that Aaron always stayed by my side.

"Have the reporters and journalists arrived?" I raised my glass of champagne, and my gaze fell on

Valerie and Pedro. They were engaged in small talk with some attendees.

Valerie seemed to like dresses very much. She wore a dark green printed dress that gave her an air of

elegance and nobility.

Andrea was nowhere to be found. She was probably still in the hospital.

Aaron also caught sight of Valerie and Pedro. He leaned against me and informed me, "They're here!"

I smirked and nodded. With a glass of champagne in hand, I made my way towards the couple and

greeted them with a faint smile, "Mr. Moore, Madam Lawson, welcome!"

Valerie and Pedro turned around and were slightly surprised to see me. Valerie was the first to speak, novelbin

"Arianna, you look gorgeous today!"

I laughed out loud. "Thank you, Madam Lawson. I don't see Miss Burton. Is she still in the hospital?"

Valerie was slightly startled to hear me asking about Andrea, but still she answered with a smile, "She's

been discharged from the hospital, but she's not in good health. So, Pedro and I sent her back to

Ucrebury to recuperate. The weather there is good, it's more suitable for her to recover there."

They sent Andrea to Ucrebury alone to recover? I couldn't help but frown at the thought of that.

Originally, Andrea had Hendrix and the rest to rely on in Ucrebury. With them all being in Jarold City

now, was it appropriate to send her to Ucrebury alone?

But I shouldn't worry about it. A second later, I responded with a giggle, "Madam Lawson and Mr.

Moore, you treat your daughter so well!"

They stared at me and gave me a forced smile, which was a little surprising to see.

If this were the past, and I had hurt Andrea, the old Valerie would have already jumped to use my

words against me. Yet, she was silent now.

"The theatres in Jarold City are most famous. Mr. Moore, you've been a Jarold City resident for a long

time. Do you like watching plays?" I glanced at Pedro and grinned.

He looked at me and said quietly "Arianna, you're the legitimate daughter of the Reid family now. You

should call me uncle!"

I was stunned for a moment before I regained my senses and called him Uncle Moore.

With his gaze focused on me, I could sense some unfathomable meaning behind his eyes. "Arianna, I

know that you resent Valerie, but today's banquet was specially prepared for you by Mr. Reid. You

shouldn't mess it up!"

I gripped the wine glass in my hand, and my face turned pale. Were they on to me?

I raised my head, shrugged my shoulders, and said, "As you've mentioned, Uncle More, this is my own

banquet. Thus, I believe that's up to me to decide what happens. No matter what, as long as I reach

my goal, nothing will be considered a mess."

Valerie looked at me. She sighed lightly and chimed in, "Forget it. Pedro, this is karma!"

Faced with their starkly different attitude, I couldn't figure out what was going on for a moment!

Were they treating me differently now out of fear since I've become the daughter of the Reid family?
