Chapter 419

These words were blatant provocation. Hendrix pursed his lips and his black eyes overflowed with

malice. "Where did you get this confidence from, Mr. Granger? Do you think she would be attracted to

you?"

I...

Irvin raised his eyebrows and looked at me seriously. He smiled and said, "Arianna, what do you think

of me? Do you hate me?"

His words were a trap. Hendrix held my hand tightly, the strength of his grip intensifying.

I pressed my lips together. Then, I decided not to speak as this was truly an irrelevant matter.

When he saw that I was silent, Hendrix looked mockingly at Irvin and said, "My wife is certainly

extraordinary, but Mr. Granger, you should be more clear-headed and remember that she is already anovelbin

married woman."

Their conversation was such a bore.

After giving Irvin a cold glare, Hendrix dragged me straight into his room.

Although it was just a few steps, he still insisted on carrying me in.

As soon as the bedroom door closed, Hendrix suddenly pinned me to the door.

He pressed his strong hand on my waist and looked down at me. His voice was filled with suppressed

rage. 'Aren't you going to explain yourself? Hmm?"

I pursed my lips and sighed slightly. "There's nothing going on between us. He must have been busy

with his parents' affairs, so he hasn't rested well these days and fell asleep next to me just now. I kindly

covered him with the quilt, but after that, he pulled me into his arms and that happened."

After a pause, I apologized after gazing at his handsome and gaunt face. "I know I shouldn't have been

kind, but Hendrix, I can't just ignore him. If it weren't for him, I could have very well been dead right

now. This has nothing to do with liking him. He saved me, and I owe him my life. He was with me

through my darkest days, and now it's my turn to return the favor as he goes through dark times as

well. Hendrix, I hope you can understand me, okay?"

I couldn't turn a blind eye to Irvin. I wasn't an angel by a long shot, but he had brought me back from

the brink of death once.

He pursed his lips and stared at me. After a while, he said, "Alright, I understand you!"

Then, he paused before he continued, "You can help him, but you can't be too kind. Make sure to

distance yourself from him after these few days, alright?"

He wore a long black coat today, and there were drops of water on his shoulder from melted snow. It

had been a few days since we last met, and his dry, brittle hair had grown longer, which made him look

even more haggard.

I nodded. These days, he seemed to be busier than usual. Now that we finally had time together, I

couldn't waste it by quarreling with him!

He hugged me and lined my forehead with kisses. His slightly hoarse voice held a smile. "Let's go out

for dinner, what would you like to have?"

I was perplexed. "Aren't we going to eat here?" "No, I haven't seen you in days so let's go eat, just the

two of us!" He hugged me and held me in his embrace tightly before he asked, "Did you miss me?"

I couldn't help but smile when his heartbeat thudded in my ears. "What are we going to eat?"

However, Hendrix pulled himself away from me and stroked my face before he asked, "What do you

want to eat? Don't you miss me?"

I knew that he just wanted to hear me say that I missed him, but I couldn't say it at the moment.

Then, I looked at him and said, "Let's have Korean food. I'm kind of craving for it."

He chuckled. "Okay. But did you miss me?"

I...

He bowed his head and sniffed my neck. "I was thinking of you all night in the hotel, and wanted to hold

you just like this."
