Chapter 420

Honestly, Hendrix had probably never sweet-talked to me before. When I heard this, I could not help

but look up at him. There was an incredibly bright gleam in his eyes as he looked back at me.

At that moment, my heart felt particularly warm.

"I saw snow outside in the yard today morning, so I was wondering how you slept last night in the hotel.

After all, hotels aren't exactly home, and there's no heating or thick clothes. When I saw you just now,

you looked haggard," I said this very softly.

Alas, he heard it all and a scratchy laughter sounded from his throat. "I'll be fine if you make it up to me

at night!"

A blush colored my cheeks as I realized the meaning behind his words.

After that, we told Nerissa that we were heading out for dinner, and she didn't have any objections to

that.

After all, Hendrix was here and he wanted to take me out. So, Nerissa couldn't say anything even if she

wanted to.

After leaving the Granger Manor, Hendrix drove me to a Korean restaurant in the city center.

There were a lot of people at night. Fortunately, he chose a high- end area, so there the crowd was still

tolerable.

The environment was elegant and quiet. After the waiter led us to our seats, Hendrix looked at me and

said, "Aside from bibimbap, what else do you want to eat?"

Rubbing my chin, I looked down at the city below which was ablaze with lights. I couldn't help but say,

"You can just order whatever, all's fine with me!"

He looked at me and saw that I was interested in the scenery outside the window, so he didn't ask any

more questions. He ordered the dishes and looked at me. "What do you plan to do this New Year?"

I withdrew my eyes from the thousands of illuminated lights, looked at him and said, "What I've been

doing for all the past New Years?"

But it took me only a moment to realize that Dalton had always been there previously, and he was

mainly why I went back to the Roberts Mansion with Hendrix every year. But Dalton was gone this year, novelbin

and Trent and Kennedy were not close to us, so there wasn't much meaning in going back home.

Thinking of this, I pursed my lips and stopped talking.

Meanwhile, Hendrix expertly saw through the doubt in my heart as he paused and said, "The Reid

family will probably have you come over this year. What are you going to do?"

Oh, I had forgotten that Charles had acknowledged me as his goddaughter. After thinking for a

moment, I said, "I guess we'll be staying in Jarold City this year then."

Monique and Ian were both abroad, and I didn't have other relatives in Ucrebury. Anyhow, in Jarold

City, there was Nerissa, as well as Austin and Josiah. The Reid family was also here.

Thinking of Josiah, I didn't let Hendrix get a word in and asked, "Have you settled the matter at the

hospital?"

He had been busy for so many days, and he looked exhausted.

When the food was served, he mixed the bibimbap and said, "Well, the only way to know is after the

New Year. There's no hurry, so let's think about how to celebrate the New Year first."

His nonchalant attitude made me pause before I replied, "Doctor Saunders has always been

responsible for the hospital. With something big like this happening, what did he say?"

"He's handling it," he replied indifferently. Then, he placed some meat on the grill and said, "Go keep

Aunt Nerissa company for the next few days. I may have to go on a business trip tomorrow, but I'll be

back in a few days."

I nodded and looked at him with my chin propped up in my hand. "It's going to be the New Year soon,

yet you're still busy with work."

He smiled and raised his hand to ruffle my hair. "I'll make it up to you after all of this is over. Let's have

a wedding ceremony next year. What kind of wedding do you want?"
