Chapter 1166

Lying in bed, I couldn't sleep. When the drip finished, and the nurse pulled out the catheter, onlythen was I able to get out of bed to walk.

I didn't know where Hendrix went, but I thought I'd better go visit Irvin. I found Irvin's ward afterasking the nurses on duty. There was a nurse in his ward, and she greeted me with a smile when Iwalked in.

Irvin had not woken up from the anesthetic yet. He had hit his head when the canopy collapsed butcurrently, as he was under a blanket, I could see no visible injuries on him. I asked the nurse,"How's he doing?"

The nurse said, "The doctor had just confirmed that his head was injured but we're not sure if thereis any concussion. His right rib was pierced by an iron rod, but fortunately, it did not penetrate anyvital organs. However, his injuries are severe and he may be hospitalized for a period of time. Theother parts of the injuries are just superficial so it should be fine."

His ribs were pierced by an iron rod... I trembled as the nurse's words sank in. I was shockedbeyond words.

I walked over to Irvin's bed and sat down, momentarily dumbfounded. If it wasn't for him, I couldhave died. The person lying unconscious then would be me. How fragile life was, and I hadn't livedhalf of my life yet. But Irvin cheated death for me, twice, and this time he almost lost his life.

How could I not worry for him? I was human after all, and obviously I felt guilty over his condition.

"Miss Reid, you should go back and rest. I will take good care of Mr. Granger. Don't worry!" Thenurse looked at me with an understanding gaze.

I shook my head slightly and said, "I'm fine. I won't be able to rest even if I go back now. I might aswell stay here. It's ok, you don't have to worry about me!"

Seeing that she couldn't convince me, she did not refute.

As I was still by Irvin's side, the nurse thought she should give us some space. "Miss Reid, I'll leavefirst. Call me when you need my help."

I nodded and paused for a moment before asking, "What's your name?"

She smiled and said, "I'm Florence!"novelbin

Smiling back at her, I nodded, "Nice to meet you!"

"Okay, call me if you need anything."

After Florence left, I looked at Irvin and became lost in thought. How could I not be grateful towardshim? He saved my life.

It seemed that I had been hiding from Hendrix, Irvin, and Aaron all these years. As long as I realizedthey were being extra nice to me, I would shun away from them.

My lack of confidence even made me push Hendrix away. I always tried convincing myself that I didnot deserve their love and that they had done all those deeds as I was beneficial to them. I had noidea why I would not believe in love or being loved...

But they would prove their love for me through actions or by putting their lives at risk for me... Timeafter time... And yet I still was not convinced. I wasn't sure if my stubbornness was a personal thingor if all girls felt the same way...

That night, I stayed by Irvin's side. Florence came in once and tried to persuade me to go back torest, but I refused. She had no choice but to let me stay.

The next day, the sun shone through the window cheerfully. Irvin finally woke up and saw me.Seeing that I was safe and sound, he smiled and said, "Great that you're alright!"
