Chapter 1167

I couldn't hold in my emotions anymore and my tears poured down my cheeks. I sobbed and said tohim, "Don't sacrifice yourself for me like this in the future. If something really happened to you, whatwould I tell Shirley? You have a family, so don't make such silly decisions anymore."

He smiled and raised his hand to ruffle my hair. He said helplessly, "Silly girl, I act on my instincts. It's an honor to be able to protect anyone I want to protect!"

I calmed down after a while. The doctor visited not long after. Seeing that Irvin was awake, he saidthat Irvin would be fine and just needed more rest.

I didn't sleep much the night before, and my menstruation didn't help the matter. Seeing Irvin wassafe, I finally sighed in relief and soon the sleepiness started to kick in.

Florence must have seen how tired I looked, because she said helplessly, "Miss Reid, please goback and have a good sleep. As for Mr. Granger, we will take good care of him. You can restassured!"

I nodded. After confirming that Irvin was fine, I

went down the stairs and prepared to return to the villa to rest.

At the entrance of the hospital, a black Bentley was parked on the side of the road. The glasswindow rolled down and Evan spoke when he saw me, "Mrs. Roberts, let me send you home!"novelbin

I was stunned. I wondered why Evan's appearance was so timely.

Thinking about the possibility of Hendrix being in the car, I felt slightly awkward. I didn't get in thecar at once. Evan seemed to realize what I was thinking, "Madam, Mr. Roberts has just left to takecare of some business."

Feeling a little embarrassed, I lowered my head and got into the car!

As Evan started the car, I hesitated for a while before asking, "Have you been at the hospital all thiswhile?"

He gave me a sidelong glance and said, "It was not just me. Mr. Roberts was here too. He was herethe whole night, looking at his phone all the while."

I was stunned for a moment, then I pursed my lips and said, "I..."

"Madam, you're worried about Mr. Granger, Mr. Roberts understands, but you didn't go back to yourward or the villa for the whole night. As his wife, you should at least call Mr. Roberts to let him knowthat you're safe. If you don't, you'd hurt his feelings!"

Evan's words penetrated my heart like a sharp knife.

I pressed my lips together once more and looked at the scenery outside the window. I was quitedumbfounded.

Evan too remained silent throughout the drive. After sending me back to the villa, Evan left to do hiswork.

Since I hadn't slept the whole night and was up anxious and frightened, the pain in my lowerabdomen seemingly worsened. When I returned to the bedroom, I lay down on the bed and tried tosleep. But due to the pain, I couldn't sleep well.

The pain seemed to increase by the minute, so I had no choice but to get up. I searched around theroom and found no painkillers. I had to order some pills online and have them delivered to thehouse.

After taking the medicine, the pain finally subsided. I wanted to take another nap, but I didn't feelsleepy anymore. I checked the time and found that it was already six in the evening. I thought thatHendrix would be back.

I went into the kitchen and opened the refrigerator.

Glancing at the ingredients inside, I figured that I would make a few dishes to make up andapologize to Hendrix when he returned.

It was September, and the day was quite cool. After I prepared all the dishes, it was already seveno'clock. Still, there was no sign of Hendrix.
