There was a sense of cold detachment on Esther’s porcelain face as she heard Felix’s question. Theysat side by side on the rocks by the sea, holding hands. The crashing waves occasionally splashedonto them, creating a warm and beautiful silhouette of a mother and son leaning on
each other.
“Felix, I won’t go back to him anymore.”
Felix asked softly, his voice tender, “Why don’t you want to go back to Daddy, Mommy?”
“Because Mommy isn’t happy with him,” Esther replied.
Esther held Felix’s hand, feeling somewhat guilty. She knew that Bradley was Felix’s father and that hemight want to go back to him. However, she no longer desired to return to Bradley’s side, even forFelix’s sake.
“Mommy, are you really not happy when you’re with Daddy?” Felix asked, puzzled.
Esther looked into Felix’s pure eyes and honestly expressed her feelings, “Yes, Mommy isn’t happywith him.
“But if you want to go back to him, I’ll arrange for someone to take you, but Mommy won’t go back.”
Felix tilted his face, partially understanding, and asked, “Mommy, are you going to divorce Daddy?”
“Yes.”
Felix looked down at the waves on the seashore, his expression somber. After a moment of silence, hereluctantly said, “Okay then, I’ll support Mommy as long as you’re happy.” “Thank you, Felix. You’re the
best!” Esther held Felix’s hand and decided not to tell him about what Bradley had done to her. Shedidn’t want to tarnish Felix’s image of his father.
“Can you stay with me for a while, Felix? You were with Daddy for five years, so can you be with me fora few months?”
Felix agreed affectionately, “Okay!”
Esther brought Felix’s hand to her lips and kissed it. “I must have been incredibly lucky in my past life.”
Felix asked curiously, “Why?”
Esther pulled Felix into her arms and said, “That’s why I have such good luck to have an adorable sonlike you!”
“Mommy!” Felix blushed, even the tips of his ears turning pink. “Mommy, where are we going if we’renot with Daddy?”
Esther held Felix’s hand and spoke softly. “Actually, you have two little sisters, Felix. One is Tinkerbell,and the other is Pixie.”
Felix listened attentively as Esther told him the story.
“But Pixie was adopted and went overseas. I’ll take you abroad to find Pixie if you want to be
with me. If you don’t want to be with me, I’ll arrange for someone to take you to Daddy.”
“Mommy, I want to find Pixie with you.” Felix happily made his decision.novelbin

“Why?”
Esther hesitated. “Because if you tell him you’re with me, I won’t be able to go find Pixie.”
“When will we go find Pixie?”
“We’ll go as soon as I finish arranging things here…”
Before Esther could finish speaking, the sound of a helicopter filled the air. She looked up, alert,wondering if it was Bradley who had arrived.
