Chapter 220

The two men gestured for Esther to join them in watching the live broadcast, occasionally stealingglances at her to gauge her reaction.

Esther’s heart trembled as she looked at the familiar face shrouded in mist. Bradley was about to marryLiliane after all…

Seated in their black attire, the men sipped on beer and indulged in meat, discussing the relationshipbetween Shane and the bride, Liliane.

“Why did Mr. Hoyer walk the bride down the aisle?”

“Could the bride be his daughter?”

As they downed their beer, a casual joke seemed to unveil a hidden truth.

Unintentionally, their words struck Esther’s heart. She fixed her gaze on Shane and Liliane captured inthe camera frame.

Something was amiss.

It was Liliane’s wedding day, and knowing how doting Billy was, he would never miss the opportunity toaccompany her down the aisle. So why was Shane the one beside Liliane?

“Mr. Hoyer?” Esther asked, surprised. “I remember the director of the prison hospital is also namedHoyer.”

The two black-clad men turned to Esther simultaneously and asked, “You’ve been in prison too?”

Esther caught onto the word “too” in their question, indicating that they had also experienced prison.novelbin

“Perhaps we were even cellmates,” Esther said, feigning nonchalance.

The shared experience of being in prison instantly forged a connection between them, and one of themen handed Esther a bottle of beer.

“Why were you in prison?”

Esther took a small sip from the bottle, not particularly fond of the taste of beer, but she pushed herselfto drink to establish rapport. “They accused me of intentional murder.”

One of the black-clad men teased, “Murder? With your appearance?”

Esther chuckled self-deprecatingly. “Whether I actually committed the crime or not doesn’t matter. Whatmatters is that they believe I did.”

“Damn!” one of the black-clad men blurted out, his curse revealing a mix of emotions directed at Estheror something that had crossed his mind.

Esther’s gaze shifted to the propaganda posters adorning the wall outside the operating room, and shenoticed the prison hospital logo at the bottom of the posters.

“Sir, I can sense that you’re good people. Can I ask why you kidnapped me?”

The black-clad men glanced at Esther, then looked at the child in her arms. One of them

replied coldly, “Don’t ask. Even if you do, we won’t tell you.”

“Someone instructed you to prevent me from attending the wedding, didn’t they?”

The black-clad men remained silent, their brows furrowed.

Understanding their reluctance to answer, Esther refrained from pushing further. She shifted her gazeback to the phone, watching the wedding broadcast together with them.

As her eyes focused on the small screen, the realization that she was in the prison hospital sparked awhirlwind of thoughts in her mind. In a sudden flash of insight, she finally understood how Liliane hadmanaged to snatch her son away from the prison hospital.
